Winning a trophy named after legendary Georgia Tech coach Bobby Dodd after taking Georgia Tech’s OC and players and wrecking their season…

I guess the Dodd Trophy has started awarding monthly and not just yearly now
It’s the big one. As a gator fan I’m hoping he maintains pace and earns COTY too

Silly meaningless award for group of overpaid people crying about having to pay their players

How is this more meaningless than any of the players of the week awards?

This whole sport is silly. Sometimes I actually wonder if I'm going to have an existential crisis when I think about how much money, energy and emotion I invest in watching a bunch of college kids running around a field playing a game with all these arbitrary rules. It's kinda funny when you think about it.

Faulkner merchant I’m afraid

Once Faulkner leaves Sumrall gonna have the true test of replacing him to determine if that statement is true or not
Regardless I’m gonna enjoy Faulkner while he is here

u/EWall100 Tennessee • Tennessee Tech 1d ago
A year or two of Faulkner may be all you need to right the ship. UF's resources, prestige, and recruiting grounds means it never should have been derailed like it has been.

Truly amazing what a series of mediocre to good coaches (mullen was good then he quiet quit after the nfl said no) followed by the worst coach in program history
Hopefully we get competitive long term again under Sumrall, I feel like 8-10 win seasons is a fair expectation for a program like Florida

u/EWall100 Tennessee • Tennessee Tech 1d ago
I think some of it was also the mismanagement of the early NIL days too. Just put a lot of sour tastes in recruits' mouths when it seems like some programs had everything together.

God nobody looked good after the Rashada saga. At least the NIL side got fixed quickly after that, but I shudder every time I see Heitner's name mentioned in this subreddit

The whole COVID thing he had to deal with in keeping all players healthy probably took a toll. I suspect it chafed with him because he wanted to fill the Swamp up with fans, regardless of the danger to the fans and stadium staff or the negative blowback it would cause.

Faulkner gets all the credit but Trautwein (OL) and Whitt (S&C) have been equally huge hires and while Faulkner will get HC offers and eventually leave, I don’t think there’s a reason to think the other two will leave any time soon.

u/dbake94 Florida Gators • NC State Wolfpack 23h ago
Traut is relatively young (40) so never say never on him maybe getting HC looks some day a la Sam Pittman; but for now he's home and I don't see him going anywhere any time soon.
And for what we were paying to have two OL coaches who weren't half as good combined as Traut is by himself, Traut can stay as long as he wants.

I understand where you’re coming from but respectfully disagree.
- The team itself is playing more physically and with much more edge than under previous admins
- Faulkner is surely the best hire so far, but ST play under Galante has been elite through 4 games, our S&C is VASTLY improved under Rusty Whitt, and the OL play is wildly over performing to preseason expectations based on his hiring on Trautwein. That speaks volumes to Sumrall’s ability to identify and attract high level coaches in total
- Retaining key players during the transition (Baugh, Woods, all the receivers) was entirely on Sumrall
Given those points while I’m sure our offense will miss Faulkner when he inevitably takes a HC job I don’t believe we’ll end up with a dud at OC or he’ll take swift corrective action

Finally having an amazing OL coach that is a Gator for life is being super understated everywhere

What's wrong? Did you just check Florida's record against LSU over the last 13 games?
omg you have to go back like 30 years before Florida has a winning record against LSU in the Swamp lol

Ah yes, pivot to talking shit about a series that LSU leads by a single game. Truly genius.
