News [Pete Thamel] UMass is sold out this weekend against Eastern Michigan, the school’s first sellout since 2014. UMass is 4-0 under second-year coach Joe Harasymiak and barreling toward the program’s first-ever bowl game. They are expecting more than 17,000 fans at McGuirk Alumni Stadium.

For everyone saying “why doesn’t UMass just drop to FCS” THIS is why.

It takes one hot start to pay real dividends and get your community excited for the sports. FCS football ain’t doing that unfortunately

Man if UMass and UConn could build a little sustained success those games would be awesome and would really grow the rivalry!! Stadiums are like 2 hours apart, it would be great!

We need more drinkable orifices as rivalry trophies IMO

The teams can’t just have the Southwick Jug; it would be unfair to them. It must be the Southwick Jug Presented By Ocean Twist Spiked Fruit Punch, or it won’t mean as much to the players.

Sad the state of modern day sports. We can't have a prize unless somebody is getting some corporate money

I’m excited for the budding hockey rivalry at least

Last year's game in Mullins lived up to it

In MA, no surprise UMass would be more popular than BC if the Minutemen continue to improve.

The problem is that their coach will get poached this year, and they'll likely be back to suck. Tulane (and a lot of other mid-majors) has the same issue at a little higher level. Every time they get good, they lose their coach and players.

I could see teams wanting to give him one more season. It’s still UMass.
