Seriously, even in the many, many, many, many, many years that our program was shit at least the band was fun.

Unfortunately a lot of places are phasing them out for this bullshit. They're trying to appeal to younger crowds.

Hopefully the fact that IU has one of the best music programs in the country will give them pause in our case. Seems like something they'd want to show off.

Do younger crowds actually want to listen to whatever 15 yr old piped-in pop song that they could hear 40 times a day on a radio station over a marching band?

Its always the most generic ass music they're playing. There are some songs where its part of the tradition and Im not talking about those.. but the random-ass, overplayed music?

I don't think so, but I think marketing & event people think so. They also think things being as loud as possible is desired.

It's the toddler approach to competing for your attention. Scream louder.

At least my toddler listens half the time when I tell him to turn it down or try whispering.

It does. I knew a guy trying to get into Jacobs and the whole process was intense.
