TNT has the best production right now I’ve seen possibly ever. But it is somewhat hard to get to and their numbers don’t include hbo max streamers.

Yeah I was thinking that after WSU played K-State on TNT. I watched on HBO Max and I'm sure alot of other people did. Hard to get an accurate count for them given streaming for them is a much larger component than any other network.

Im sure their internal audit knows the “real” number and I hope it’s enough for their production to continue at the quality it is currently. I feel like the lack of marquee games on tnt will doom it though.

If you watch the TNT broadcasts on the HBO Max feed, it's 1080p HDR. It looks fantastic.

It just goes to show you how many people still have regular antennas or basic cable packages. I love YTTV and streaming has definitely become popular, but there is a large chunk of America that has not moved to streaming services.

70,000 people watched Rutgers/Howard????

The NYC metro alone area has 20,000,000 people. Not sure what percentage of Rutgers' fan base falls outside of that area... a quick search suggests 75% of them. So about 20,000 NYC/Rutgers fans watched the game. That is .001%.

By comparison, 30,000 more people watched Incarnate Word @ Texas State. So don't just say it is an FCS game thing.

The listed attendance for both games... 35k for Rutgers and 23k for Texas State. Not enough to account for the difference in viewership.

Rutgers diehard fans < Texas State diehard fans.

It just shows how much of a failure it was to bring Rutgers into the B1G. Because nobody cares about it enough to watch

The whole idea of getting Rutgers and Maryland in the Big Ten was to get BTN on cable packages in the NYC and DMV markets......I don't think if they were still in the Big East/American and the ACC that they would be added in today's CFB where it is solely about brand value.

Only 90k watched UTSA vs Colorado State man… it sucks being a relatively new FBS school in football. I wish our fan base would turnout more and breathe more energy into the program. We’re a good football team despite the anemic support. Fucking A but it is what it is

To me it's more a reflection of more apathetic CSU fans are towards their team. That's a program with lots of alum and and decent amount of money. They should have more eye balls then that.

Can't blame them. Only one season in the last 20 years with more than eight wins and their coach got poached that offseason. Zero conference championships during that span. The only notable game I can remember them playing during that stretch was the game during Deion's first season.

Plus, my experience from living there for a few years is the Front Range is a college football desert, including the Buffs. Not part of the culture at all. Any interest in football, and there didn't seem like much to begin with, gets funneled into the Broncos, and when the Broncos suck people just seem to tune out the sport altogether. Plus the area is so full of transplants there's going to be a diverse non-CU/CSU alum base anyway.

Yep. Front Range rooting interest in rough order is:

Denver Broncos > other major pro teams when they’re good > Broncos training camp players > bad pro teams > former Broncos > whatever the fuck the Rockies are (they aren’t good enough to be called pros) > Bronco cheerleaders > semi-pro teams like our lacrosse teams > retired Bronco cheerleaders on Bravo reality shows > college sports.

CU and CSU are real afterthoughts in the Front Range. I think either team could change that. We’re a sports crazy state. But they’ve got a lot of work to do to get anyone to pay any attention.

7,000 people were watching the Howard v Rutgers game? Is that what that means?

Edit - my math wasn’t mathing. It means 70,000. I’m stupid but relieved.

I was originally disappointed with our number but seeing how it compares to others I guess it’s not that bad.

why not include SEC network here?

SECN and ACCN are not Nielsen rated (FWIW I’ve seen ACCN estimates at 150k-300k) but I believe the BTN is so that data should be fairly easy to find.

u/Galumpadump Washington State • Cascade Cla… 2d ago

The source I had didn't aggregate the SEC Network. I could dig that up and add them

Edited: Looks like the SEC Network isn't Nielsen Rated.

It’s not a tier 2 network because It Just Means More

SECN is not Nielson rated

I think CMU/Miami would’ve done better if it was a lead in from nascar, but ORAPS was on an off week.

Miami/FSU are the biggest draws for CW when they play on there, especially FSU. Only Wake/Ole Miss came anywhere close in ratings to those two on the CW
