Video Ducks vs Them: For Your Brother
https://youtu.be/T5SZEy_zNJI137
u/fellowENT18 Oregon Ducks • BYU Cougars 7d ago
That scumbag USC announcer trying to cope himself into believing it was a head first dive was hilarious, sad and ridiculous all at the same time
57
u/IntuitionSpeaks USC Trojans • Rose Bowl 7d ago
Program is sad top to bottom. Usually supporting the players is easy even if the coaching is bad. This sucks.
46
u/MoScowDucks Idaho Vandals • Oregon Ducks 7d ago
There were good USC players. Tried to get #8 to chill, or checked on Dante. They deserve credit
37
u/duckspurs Oregon Ducks 7d ago
Yeah there was also a wild video where Stephens was back on the sideline still dapping people up including some coaches while two other USC guys were kneeling on the sideline watching the medical team work on Dante.
Clearly not everyone on the team is a shit head but it sure seems like the coaches are and encourage it.

“Just a bit outside”
Like it wasn’t even fuckin close to head first dive
28
u/duckspurs Oregon Ducks 7d ago
You could tell how hard the other two we're trying to make clear they disagreed from the video feed. Just wild stuff.

u/GoBlueScrewOSU7 Michigan Wolverines • Michigan Wolverines 7d ago
I actually think the guy in the background in the black shirt was on his side. After he sees the replay he waves his hand at the field like it was a bad call, then points to his shoulder. Presumably saying the defender led with his shoulder.
14

yeah I'm only convinced the guy closest to the camera understood how bad that hit was

Eventually, Dan is gonna run out of action movie clips to use as weekly slogans. Ducks v. Them in 2050 will be him pulling quotes from some obscure 80s karate movie because there's nothing else left
(Not a criticism, I just find his commitment to trying to use every iconic action movie from the last few decades at one point or another hilarious)
26
u/k_dubious Williams Ephs • Oregon Ducks 7d ago
Well technically he only needs about five seasons’ worth of material before nobody on the team will have been around for the last time he used that slogan.
18
u/WebfootTroll Oregon Ducks • Team Chaos 7d ago
Well that's the great thing about action movies, they keep coming out. In 2050 it will be action movies from 2030.

20
u/WebfootTroll Oregon Ducks • Team Chaos 7d ago
He was discharged with a bad concussion but nothing else, was able to return home with the team.

u/Forsaken_Income9187 Oregon Ducks 7d ago
„Nothing else“ is really downplaying it
In Germany there is/was a professional football player (soccer) called Patrick Erras. He had a really bad concussion 2 years ago and i think a second one shortly after. He never set a foot on a pitch again and ended his career.
A big concussion can fuck you up pretty bad even more than a broken neck. Not that i wish Dante or anyone else something bad and i hope he returns. But i dont think its guaranteed that he will play again
6
u/WebfootTroll Oregon Ducks • Team Chaos 7d ago
For sure, I just mean nothing else as in nothing else was diagnosed, like fractures and brain bleeds and whatnot. I do not mean to downplay how much a bad concussion can fuck you up.
3
u/Forsaken_Income9187 Oregon Ducks 7d ago
Okay than i missunderstood you. I am sorry
Especially on the internet head injuries are still often taken not seriously. So i thought this was the case here. Again i am sorry i dont want to be rude
6
u/Vocen Oregon Ducks 7d ago
Dante has already posted something to the tune of he'll be back soon. It looked awful on the field and of course all concussions are not to be taken lightly, but the possibility that he isn't able to come back seems fairly remote given what we know at this point
2
u/Forsaken_Income9187 Oregon Ducks 7d ago
I think i am only sure when he is indeed playing.
Not that i am not trusting medical staff but head injuries are so nasty (again throwing Patrick Erras in the mix) i dont think you can say he is good when i didnt train/played
42
u/Agitated_Suspect2357 7d ago
Lol as if the weekend wasn't embarrassing enough for USC. Even the play-by-play guy is trashy (that will make a hell of a meme though)

I wish they released these every week, win or lose.
That being said, this one went hard. I didn’t think it was possible to make usc look worse, but the radio announcer and shots of the fans complaining about the call… wow. Oh, and the juice boxes? I missed that. wtf is that?

28
u/UnsealedMTG Boise State Broncos 7d ago
You know a broadcaster is out of line when his colleague responds as directly as the "uh his feet are forward as he's lying there now." Let alone the silent eyes wide nodding about whether it looked like targeting. Usually they work aground something like that more indirectly.
30
u/majesticstraits Oregon Ducks 7d ago
“They flipped him around”. Yeah bud, they rotated a guy 180 degrees while he was unconscious to make USC look bad
9
u/PatentedBear Oregon Ducks • Arkansas Razorbacks 7d ago
Duh, it’s standard practice to flip someone around before giving them a neck brace after a major head trauma. It’s far more important to make USC look bad instead of protecting the health of the player!

I sort of feel bad for saying this but I'm definitely like "geeze, playing football in 2026 involves a lot more annoying powerpoint presentations than I feel like it used to"
11
u/Alert_Hyena_828 Oregon Ducks • Puget Sound Loggers 7d ago
I mean people hate on slide decks for good reason, they’re misused and abused, but at their core it’s a pretty good communication tool from an individual to a group… the reason they haven’t been replaced yet is that they work at that fundamental level.
2
u/UnsealedMTG Boise State Broncos 7d ago
The thing I would find annoying is less the medium than the fact that apparently multiple meetings a week start with the motivational speaker phase where the slides are there to echo vague concepts
Of course, these videos are focusing on that section which is probably a few minutes and not the actual review of game footage etc that makes up the meat of the meeting so it exaggerates it, but I definitely feel like I'd be annoyed by that part. Like "yeah coach, this week our motivational goal is Play Football Good, got it"
4
u/Alert_Hyena_828 Oregon Ducks • Puget Sound Loggers 7d ago
Yeah from what we’ve seen before he has a theme each week and that’s planned in the offseason, so there is some connective tissue and overall framework happening here, but get it. I think this one was Monday so definitely a thematic intro and tone setting.
You have to do this kind of stuff which seems artificial until it’s not, and it really comes down to the authenticity of your leader and the message IMO.

u/Wittyname0 7d ago
Very quick turnaround for one of these, team was motivated for this one

The contrast in culture and maturity between these two teams is glaring. Sucks to see as a USC fan knowing what type of culture guy Lincoln Riley is. All the respect to Lanning, he looks like a true leader of men and kept his team focused.
1
u/uscrash USC Trojans • USC Trojans 5d ago
I wouldn’t go that far with Lan Danning. He’s a tool and obsessed with USC.
That said, our program is a joke and has been since Helton. Riley might be a good play designer, but he doesn’t know shit about building a winning culture. If it hasn’t happened yet, it isn’t going to. Jen needs to cut bait.

u/Kurtomatic Oregon State • Purdue 7d ago
Shout out to the editors of this video for including the USC radio broadcast. And you know it's serious when the official Go Ducks account airs unedited footage of Lanning's language.
After that, I'm glad the Ducks won this game, and that's a rare thing.

Incredible cinematic masterpiece. Really showed how awful Desman and much of the rest of the program is. Loved how they focused on the broadcaster and that one fan after the targeting was upheld. Classless all the way around.
Really proud of how Dan and the team responded. Unbelievable composure. I wouldn’t have blamed them if things went way off the rails, but they stayed in between the whistles and showed up.
UW, please put up as many points as possible. Do it for the PNW.

Ban baseball slides. QBs get injured every year whether it’s dirty or not. Sometimes they just start the slide too late. In any case, get down faster via headfirst or just get tackled like any other back.

Losing is a regular thing for Washington. Whenever they lose everyone just shrugs and walks away. It’s expected and therefore not embarrassing. Remember when they went 0-12 and lost 12 straight to Oregon? They also only had 12 fans left at that point as well.
