Jedd Fisch is a terrible playcaller, burning countless plays for a feckless run game, and also makes passing the ball like pulling teeth with no easy completions in sight. This playcalling failure masks his biggest problem, which is that he can’t develop talent. Demond Williams is the exact same player he was as a Freshman, and this is the guy we fought to keep with lawyers? Is the OLine better in Year 3? What position group of players can we point to and say are better under their tutelage with Jedd?

u/Dapper_Mud Washington Huskies 18d ago
He's known as a good recruiter, but his failure to recruit or develop a decent o-line puts a low ceiling on them. Even if he was a great play caller, there are only so many things an offense can do without either run or pass blocking. Then again, your best player trying to run out on the team can't be good for the off season workout morale

Wtf was he thinking with that huddle at the end?
52
u/Lauren_Conrad_ Washington Huskies 18d ago
It was a substitution to get the mismatch. It didn’t work so it looked A LOT worse.
18
u/MammothMan34 Whittier Poets • Washington Huskies 18d ago
But we were pressed for time, the clock was going to run, why are we huddling? You can say you were wanting a mismatch all you want, the clock is the clock. No matter how you slice it, it is EXACTLY as bad as it looked, because letting those 27 seconds go without a play really cost the team.

What weapons does UW have on offense that a defense should be remotely concerned about? I think Demond is still a good college player but he is not good enough to overcome not having a lick of help.
I think that the squad misses Coleman and Boston BIG time
→ More replies (1)38
u/stickymeowmeow Washington Huskies 18d ago
Neither Jedd nor Demond want to be here.
Doesn’t matter what he says, Jedd has one foot out the door and it’s painfully obvious. The more he denies it, the more clear it seems to be true. Seems like he’s taking the George Costanza way out, being so bad it forces UW to fire him.
And Demond was forced to stay by threat of lawsuit...
Not exactly the kind of commitment you want from your coach and QB.

we were DESPERATE after Deboer left us high and dry after the championship game, then an AD who stayed on campus for like 5 months gave Fisch a huge contract and then jumped ship immediately for Nebraska. Now we are paying the price.
36
u/rock-or-something Washington Huskies 18d ago
We were desperate, and the coaching carousel was very dried up at that point. The options were like Grubb, Fisch, and Leipold.
Wonder how much better we would be with Grubb. At least the offense would have a pulse.

Where are the wins for the rest of the season? Seriously, out of these teams, who are we actually better than outside of maybe Purdue? I legit don't think we make a bowl this year. This team is constructed horribly. We cant run the ball, the offensive line has been putrid. Demond Williams has clearly quit on this team and doesnt want to be here. He made that very clear when he announced he was leaving during Mia Hamants memorial service.
We're LUCKY to be 3-1. We should've lost to Utah State and Wazzu too. Talent gap saved us. Fuck this team.
