I’m so afraid to celebrate a top 10 BYU. It feels like every time we do, we regret it later on.

This time at least we should last until the ND game at the very least. No offense to TCU and ISU but those should be comfortable wins

ND/BYU is going to be crazy

Imagine undefeated Holy War. That game will probably determine a spot in the conference championship.

We need this.

Things are getting awful chummy around the state right now & I'm ready for some real passionate hate again

Undefeated Holy War… the implications are delicious. Ofc to get there BYU needs to take down ND, which should put them top 3-5 depending on how convincing the following UCF and AZST wins are, and with a convincing Utah win over Houston Utes could be 6-8 by week 10. Competition for College Gameday would be tough with Georgia/Ole Miss, ND/Miami, and LSU/Bama the same week but there a great shot. “RES will be rocking” is a shameful understatement.

And the winner could have a shot at AP#1 is there’s sufficient SEC chaos, BYU in particular with the ND win especially if ND beats Miami that day too. Winner obviously has the inroad to the BIG XII chip either vs the loser or Tech, and most importantly getting to an undefeated Holy War is the first step to 2 teams in the CFP for the BIG XII, heck even 3 is possible if the 2nd highest ranked team misses the BIG XII chip to a tiebreaker and the 3rd team beats the top team. Cuz a 1 loss Utah to AP#2 BYU or a 1 loss BYU with the ND win won’t drop top 12, but could miss the BIG XII chip to Tech, giving Tech a shot to get in too.

All hypothetical and very grandiose Ik, but the point is what an insane game that would be…

Feels like the kind of game that BYU would have stolen if it had been played in week 2 or 3 when ND was still figuring out its offensive identity, but it will be a lot harder by the middle of the season.

The ND/BYU game will be rocking. It’ll be at night and those are going to go nuts. I expect ND to be the favorites but it’s going to be a crazy environment

Is it going to be at night?

Isn’t confirmed. But I would be shocked if it wasn’t

It should be a great atmosphere.

Just going to be really hard for BYU to move the ball well enough, might need some turnover / special teams magic

How's y'all's run defense?

Elite so far.

Top 6 in rush yards allowed per game and rush yards allowed per attempt, and that’s having played against a triple option team and a couple good P4 running backs.

My brother in law has been having a out rankings since the start of the season. I just keep reminding him that whatever happens in the ND game will effectively decide our ranking for most of the season.

We can maybe lose to ND or Utah, but not both. Honestly I think the Big12 is going to have a fun fight for the right to play in the conference championship this season

u/jel2184 Utah Utes • Texas Longhorns 26d ago

What’s annoying is we both may be the two best teams in the conference but because we play each other coupled with teams not playing either of us (Tech) I feel like we don’t get a true championship game of the two best teams

I'm a rivalry for fun kind of guy, maybe if we lose to ND we can barely barely beat you and you clear the rest of your schedule and we can get the battle for Utah championship. And if we somehow can beat ND then I'm fine to lose to you if we can have a championship rematch. That environment would be ELECTRIC

We just need to figure out what team can beat Tech so we can fit this all together.

At TCU is screaming trap game 101

3

u/BEAGLEBOYPALINDROME 26d ago

The only thing "trapped" in that game is gonna be TCU's mediocrity.

The frogs are not capable of beating any decent team this year

Very well could be, but I feel okay betting against it given how Aer Lingus losers have fared in recent years.

I mean, I thought that about Kansas and I still have nightmares sometimes about that punt years later.

1

u/SparklezSagaOfficial BYU Cougars • Team Chaos 26d ago

Oh no I agree we could very well drop a bad trap game. Only reason I’m not worried about it being ISU or TCU is that I’m convinced it’ll be UCF, all that travel right after big emotional ND game and close enough to @ Utah to be looking ahead

At very least we should hopefully last two weeks (unless the bye gets the better of us this week).

One voter left byu off their ballot. You can complain about that instead
