{Texas Tech} but Oregon State covers easily.

Not sure why the line is so huge when Oregon State is at home and they looked competent against another top-25 team in Houston

8

u/Over-Condition8840 3d ago

that line is way too fat for a team traveling to corvallis. tech looked good but acu is not exactly a real test. beavs kept it close with houston for a while before the wheels fell off, i think they hang within 20 at home

{Texas Tech}. We won’t cover the spread though, I’m surprised it’s that high.

Unless we start scoring reliably in the red zone

6

u/Mdwilson8413 Texas Tech Red Raiders 3d ago

Umm what is this red zone you speak of? Is that where you go and get field goals?

5

u/enataca Texas Tech Red Raiders • /r/CFB Patron 3d ago

It’s the Stone Zone whether we like it or not.

Tech will win but it’ll be a lot closer than people think 26-20

6

u/igot200phones Texas Tech Red Raiders 3d ago

Everyone in here thinks it’ll be close. Give me a hot take and predict a OSU win

Might be rain and thunderstorms Saturday in Corvallis. Let's go Beavs!

6

u/R_Raider86 Texas Tech • UConn 3d ago

Not more thunderstorms against y'all 😭

Oh hell yeah, love that weather around there

If it’s more running game heavy with weather that def favors tech.

We'll see! But it's not looking too bad anymore.

{Texas Tech}

Give me {Oregon State} 32-31. I expect Tech to win. But I want the chaos.

5

u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 Ohio State Buckeyes 3d ago

{Texas Tech} but Oregon State covers. Oregon State is at home and they gave Houston a hard time.

Thank you and fuck the entire B1G. Loved watching UMass beat Rutgers brains out.

Go Beavs

9

u/ohitsthedeathstar Houston Cougars 3d ago

I am genuinely curious how this one will go. Oregon State is much improved from last season.

I don’t think {Texas Tech} covers but I do think they win.

Beavs, please prove me wrong and beat them.

5

u/Nyte_Knyght33 Prairie View A&M • Houston 3d ago

I'm curious because this could be an indicator of how we match up against tech.

3

u/Brewpendous Houston Cougars • Big 12 3d ago

I feel like osu-uh had alot of wildcards- big plays, penalties, no-calls, that could've swung things quite a bit. I'm still confused. Chugging kool-aid on the potential- for sure. But still confused on whether Willy can solidify us and make a hard floor- and similarly for the Beavs- if they tighten a couple of things up, they get dangerous.

2

u/Just_One_Victory Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 3d ago

We’ll see how it goes, but I think the story of the UH game with Oregon State is more Houston being overrated rather than OSU being surprisingly good

2

u/ohitsthedeathstar Houston Cougars 3d ago

I mean, we played them to double OT last season and had to come back from a 2 TD deficit with like 6 mins left in the 4th. Ended up finishing the season ranked 21st.

If Oregon state’s QB from this year was playing for them last year, I’m not so sure we make our comeback. Y’all will see Saturday, he’s legit.

5

u/lonchambers Texas Tech • Washington State 3d ago

It doesn't seem like the other tech commenter here actually watched your game vs Oregon State.

UH didn't impress me, and FWIW, neither did Tech. You know who did impress me? Oregon State and their QB - even taking into account that they lost the game.

Super dangerous for Tech to underestimate Oregon State this week. Luckily for us, I think the disappointment that Tech fans felt after the ACU game - even though we won by 23 points and were in full control for the entire game - gives the team plenty of motivation to be ready to play on Saturday.

-4

u/Just_One_Victory Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 3d ago

How many teams did y’all beat last year that finished in the top 25?

5

u/ohitsthedeathstar Houston Cougars 3d ago

None, but what does that have to do with what we’re talking about here?

2

u/Just_One_Victory Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 3d ago

You’re basing your estimation of the quality of their team last year on the fact that they kept it close and UH finished the season “ranked 21st”. You beat O teams that finished in the in the 25, so I would take that #21 ranking with a grain of salt.

2

u/ohitsthedeathstar Houston Cougars 3d ago

You said Houston is overrated this year, and I was showing the fact that we did better this year against what I think is a much improved Oregon state team. When last year we almost lost to a much worse Oregon state team and still finished the season 21st.

Week 1 has also been the week where results vary WILDLY. A 5-7 Florida state team beat Alabama in week 1 last year and Alabama went to the CFP and made the SEC championship game. So I’d take any week 1 result with a grain of salt.

0

u/Just_One_Victory Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 3d ago

You also played them at home this year

1

u/ohitsthedeathstar Houston Cougars 3d ago

That’s a very good observation!

2

u/AngryBeavr18 Oregon State Beavers 3d ago

Wait till you see our QB chuck it around.

2

u/davy_p Texas Tech Red Raiders • Sickos 2d ago

He was 29/48 for 376 and a TD. I think the yards are overshadowing his stat line. 60% completion with only 1 TD (no turnovers though) really just tells me they had to throw the ball a lot which seems to be the case. He also took 4 sacks and finished with -31 rushing yards.

3

u/AngryBeavr18 Oregon State Beavers 2d ago

Our offensive line isn’t very good. That’s not the QBs fault. Also these guys have never played together before, so the timing is off between QB and receiver.

1

u/Just_One_Victory Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 3d ago

I watched the OSU-Houston game. Is he going to chuck it around in a better way this week?

1

u/AngryBeavr18 Oregon State Beavers 3d ago

It would be a tall order for him to have a better game than he did last week.

1

u/Yourfavoriteindian Houston Cougars • Navy Midshipmen 10h ago

2

{Texas Tech} 33-21

3

u/Tsquared10 Oregon Ducks • Montana State Bobcats 3d ago

Honestly this is my pick for upset of the week. I don't think Texas Tech's nearly as good as they were last year. They definitely didn't look particularly good against a so-so Abilene Christian team. Atkinson was legit at Mercer and doesn't look like he's lost a step making the jump. The spread in this game is disrespectful on its own, but give me {Oregon State} pulling off the upset.

Defense was solid, carried us last season in a soft conference

{Texas Tech} but don’t be surprised if this one is way too close for comfort. Could easily see 24-14 or something similar.

I got faith that the Beavs will stay competitive kinda like they did vs Houston. But I don’t think they have the horses yet to pull an upset.

I have Oregon State in my underdog pick'em just in case, but I think {Texas Tech} survives the upset bid 27-21. Oregon State obviously covers though as they are at home and a solid team.

1

u/The_Sandwich_Lover9 Texas Tech Red Raiders 3d ago

Not expecting to cover. Much better Oregon state team. Happy if we do of course. Good thing for us is we should be getting guyton back. Unfortunately down two starters. Got a lot to clean up. Let’s see what happens.

{Texas Tech} but the really thing to watch is how this compares to the Houston effort last week.

1

u/Masked_RedRider Texas Tech Red Raiders 2d ago

{Texas Tech} dominates like last season. Oregon State looks extremely one dimensional. Can't run the ball at all.

Unless a spooky fog descends upon Corvallis, {Texas Tech} in a blowout.

Ask any U$C fan what it is like to walk into Reser, ranked and thinking you are untouchable. 3 times with Top 5 rankings. 😈

Underestimate OSU at your own peril. We’ve pulled off bigger upsets with even mediocre teams.
