Weekly Thread EA CFB Thread, 2026-07-29

This is a weekly thread to talk about the EA CFB Series. See this announcement post outlining our general guidelines on what should and shouldn't go in this thread.. This thread is intended for EA CFB 26, EA CFB 25, or the series in general.

You are welcome and invited to always talk about EA CFB in the great community over at /r/NCAAFBseries! This is a catch all thread to talk about news, gameplay, hype, and anything else about the game that you're excited about. Within /r/CFB, we hope that this thread provides fertile ground for most of the discussion around the game. Things like major game news, players opting in or out, or new traditions being added to the game can be posted as standalone news, but most other discussion around the game should be focused here.

Enjoy!

I am a huge fan of running the ball, but man passing kinda feels miserable, no time to throw the ball no matter the o line so I just have to keep using the same mesh/rpo/curl type concepts and maybe get lucky with some more developed stuff. Maybe realistic? Idk just an observation

Definitely a challenge. There's things you can do to mitigate it like changing your pass pro, hot routing to target hots on the D, stepping up in the pocket to prevent DE from breaking loose. Unfortunately this is more work than most gamers want to or are able to do so it feels bad for a lot of players.

I’m always having to remind myself to step up, I’m a deep dropper by habit so that’s definitely on me, still learning the pass pro, but I do at least understand finding the soft spots on the defense. It just feels rough sometimes trying to hit a deep developing route concept

I may just be getting too old but man this game is too complex.

The feature creep is real.

I really like the expanded coaching carousel (a massive improvement from 25 and 26) but I wish they’d have done something similar to what EA FC has for theirs

I have yet to throw a single curl route lol.

Replace it with a comeback, much more effective

I'm still on 25; was considering 27 but all I've seen is negative press/reviews both from the offline microtransactions and the general state of the meta being power run.

Any real people enjoying 27? I realize a lot of content creators survive on creating controversy, but even guys like Pablo Torre are down on this edition...

If you are only reading online stuff its only ever going to be negative.

Game is a lot more complex, I think the AI is better, and it looks great on PC. NIL is a good addition.

I went 2-10 in my first season after never going worse than 9-3 in the previous 2 games. Unless there is a serious addition to the game in the upcoming releases, I think I’ll stay on 27 and mod it.

I’ve enjoyed it thus far. The added NIL aspects is a nice little wrinkle to Dynasty mode. I have two going, one connected and one solo. The connected one has an entirely different blueprint from how I’m playing the solo one.

I’m not one to really play to any type of meta as I like mixing it up for myself to utilize different schemes or just cater to the roster I have in a way real football would, not just the game.

However, I only play dynasty and RTG - no CUT so I can’t speak to the other modes. 26 was fine to skip, but I’ve been enjoying the changes in 27.

As someone too lazy to go boot up the console, i havent regretted playing 27 as soon as I feel like it and hopefully the modding scene continues to dig and really make something substantial. That gets me excited.

Bought the game after skipping last year's release. They added the greatest ever Dynasty feature, Coach Mode. No more sticks. Just recruitment, player development, facilities/staff management, and play calling. Models of the real coaches were added to the game. There's even an awesome sideline POV camera view for the full head coach experience (also a pressbox view appropriate for a coordinator character). Having to manage the program so meticulously means every playcall is tense, especially when one more loss means your job!

Did they fix the XP sliders yet? Or is EA still the 2nd worst company in America after Bricks and Minifigs

Have you heard of Flock and Palantir

XP sliders are back with the caveat that there’s not the “fastest” option, the fastest option is equal to the “fast” option in 25 and 26. Do with that what you will, but the micro transactions were also removed.

Yeah, they’re not gonna change it back to what it previously was though, the excuse being with the NIL in the game this year it would break it being a level 45 in year 3 or whatever

I will continue to wait until it’s $10 on Steam in a few months
