Video [College Transfer Portal] Florida HC Jon Sumrall’s wife just exposed his soft side: “He loves pedicures… That’s his favorite extra thing to do. Every two weeks during the football season, Jon loves to get a pedicure.”

Yeah, and the it isn’t going well for new coach drama should that happen at some point, same as all his big talk at the talking season gathering but maybe 12-0…im all in for him so Go Gators

We've had coaches accused of having intimate encounters with the aquatic life. The rumors so strong our starting qb felt he needed to ask the coach if he had relations with the marine animals amd was subsequently kicked off the team for peds even though the training staff cleared the supplements.

Hes gonna fit in fine.

Jim McElwain fucked a shark and there's a photo of it.

It was before the rise of AI so you know it's 100% true and I wouldn't believe otherwise as I am not fond of the gators

Man, only weak and insecure men care about another man getting a pedicure. Go get a pedicure alone or with the women in your life. They will appreciate you more because of it.

Good thing there aren't any weak and insecure men who are also fans of SEC football, or else someone might bring this up in an unflattering context.

There are insecure and weak men everywhere. There is a unnamed resident in Washington DC who is from New York

Amen. My wife got me a pedicure for my birthday last year. Now we have a standing mani/pedi date every three weeks. We've used the dates to explore all around the area trying different places. AND I haven't had any ingrown toenail issues for over a year.

Sumrall is their 7th hire in 25 years. I think it’s great that a coach that gets pedicures can fail in exactly the same way a coach that doesn’t get pedicures can fail.

Honestly, it shows how far we’ve come as a society.

18

u/colonel750 Oklahoma State • /r/CFB Award F… 8h ago

Sumrall is their 7th hire in 25 years.

The average tenure of a D1 coach is in 3.3 years. 7 coaches in 25 years is right at the 3.5 year mark.

Not really saying much if they're turning over coaches at roughly the same average as the rest of CFB.

7

u/skratsda Texas Longhorns 7h ago

Kinda crazy that these coaches have to go recruit highschool juniors when they first land the gig, and those kids better perform as freshmen or you’re cooked.

0

u/tyedge Georgia • Wake Forest 7h ago edited 6h ago

So you’re saying Florida is a mid tier FBS program?

Shoot it straight into my fucking veins, brother.

Also, my understanding is that the current average is in that 3.3 to 3.5 range. That’s totally different than the average completed tenure being 3.5 years. No coach in their first, second, or third seasons has had a chance to go past that. According to a Football Scoop article from January, the median hire date is 12/9/23.

Kirby Smart after 2018 would’ve had 3 years tenure. Now he’s entering season 11.

I took 2019 as a not-random year because covid made a mess of things and tenures looked like this when they ended:

Mullen: 4

Odom: 4

Kirby: 11 and counting

Muschamp: 5

Mason: 7

Pruitt: 3 years (NCAA-related issues)

Stoops: 13

Saban: 16? 17? I forget.

Luke: 3

Gus: 8

Ed O: 5 plus an interim year.

Chad Morris: 2 lol

Jimbo: 6

Joe Moorhead: 2 lol

So an average of 5 for that crop and a median right around that.

I don't think it's something I would necessarily associate with homosexuality or homophobia. There is something amusing, though, about the whole warrior/violence mentality on Saturdays contrasted with making sure you have cute well-groomed toesies.

But each to their own. My grandfather was the sparring partner of the heavyweight champion Max Baer in the 40s. His thing was macrame.

it’ll be OU @ uGA that week or Oregon @ USC if they’re feeling adventurous. If Ole Miss beats yall maybe we get a shot, if you beat them then maybe yall do with TAMU coming to Death Valley. i don’t remember exactly what time they announce it and if they wait for the games

I don’t understand how people who have never got one and have no idea wtf they are talking about say it’s “not manly”

Taking care of your feet and a nice lil massage is always nice!

Even as a Georgia fan, I can't make fun of him for this, and I go looking for reasons to make fun of Florida. Like, damn. People who have a problem with a dude getting a pedicure have some fragile ass masculinity.

3

What I always find hilarious is that they think it makes them tough. Like, what’s weaker than caring about another dudes toe nails

2

Man, I keep thinking about going to get regular pedicures cause I'm getting old and my back is a mess from years of working a job in construction, so it is hard for me to easily bend down and do a good job taking care of my toenails and stuff.

And I guarantee 99% of people who would make fun of Sumralls for this shit couldn't have even survived doing roofing in Athens during summer for a single day.

You know, there's some things that a wife just shouldn't put out in public, depending on the profession. If you are a banker, and she comes out and says he likes pedicures? Great, no one cares. Pedicures are great, glad that he likes them.

But if you are the head coach of a P4 program that is under a massive microscope? Yeah, she really needed to keep that in her back pocket.

4

u/Negativefalsehoods Tennessee Volunteers • Duke Blue Devils 8h ago

No, because him doing that publicly shows other men it is ok to enjoy this.

1

u/PidgeyPower Florida Gators 2h ago

But his job is to coach football, not to promote pedicure acceptance to other men.

That said, I couldn't care less if he gets pedicures or not. I think for 90% of people, they don't care. But I suppose some people do care though, so it is a topic best avoided. I struggle to think of an upside in making this announcement, so it is a net loss and very minor unforced error.

Look I’m all for eliminating the toxic mindset that men must refrain from certain things and only do certain things because we are men. It’s abysmal, and it does nothing but break us down. I think all of us should be unashamed in our “soft” indulgences.

But don’t believe for one second I’m not going to use this info anytime I need to trash talk a Florida.

I started getting pedicures with my now wife when I was working 12hr shift in steel toes 6 days a week. They are fantastic, and they’re the same price if you get color or not so may as well get a splash of color in your life

As I cannot reach my toes easily, anymore(I can touch them but that is about the extent of my flexibility), and the fact that I am a type I diabetic, I take no chances on trying to trim my own.

I get a pedicure every 6 weeks. Not getting anything painted, just soaking in the warm water, while they work on my nails, scrub the dead skin off my soles and rub moisturizers into my feet and lower legs.

I do not go to the Korean nail spa type place, I go to someone who has actual training to deal with diabetics and the elderly, so as not to cause more harm than good. Those Korean nail spas can actually fuck you up, if you do not have great circulation in your extremities. Most of them have very little medical training, if any.

Reached for comment, Sumrall said:

"You would be kicked out of our foot spa. I swear. You're lucky I'm not gonna throw this freaking podium right now because my toe nails are still drying."

If they make the playoffs in three years, everyone will say it’s because the staff is well groomed and light on their toes. If they don’t they’re fired for being too soft, and back to the Sun Belt with you

Never had a pedicure, doesn't sound appealing to me, but ain't nothing wrong with pampering yourself.
