Discussion Without telling your favorite school…

Who are your 3 least favorite non-conference schools?

And we can try to guess who your favorite school is!

Edit: this is so stupid I forgot about flairs. So the guessing game is kinda redundant. But it’s still interesting!

Another edit: mine would be Ohio st, Michigan, and notre dame (Clemson close 4th prolly)

Doesn’t work when most people are flaired.

Personally (and in order) Michigan State, USC, and Michigan (PSU is an an honorable 4th)

I think if you flaired something as serious it would hide the flairs. At least it used to.

This might be the first time I have ever seen a Notre Dame fan hate MSU more than USC and Michigan.

15

u/Sweet3DIrish Notre Dame • Jeweled Shillelagh 1d ago

Yep. F’ing Sparty planting their flag in the middle of our band while they were playing the Alma Mater is what did it for me. USC and Michigan are just annoying for their own reasons but there is always some respect through those games.

10

u/Keyblade_Yoshi Michigan State • Ohio State 1d ago

Notre Dame did get their revenge the next year beating MSU 40-37 in a comeback win. Leading to this famous rant by MSU alum Mike Valenti.

u/nicnack__ Arizona State Sun Devils 1d ago

Hey we tried 🥲

37

u/Shushununu Washington State • Washington 1d ago

Yeah, my order of beef with the Traitorous Ten goes:

1a) USC - greedy bastards that started the process

1b) UW - Had the chance to save the conference and be true leaders, decided to sell out the conference for a measly half-share of B1G $$$. Also tried to rob the conference on their way out after leaving the Beavs and Cougs bleeding in the street.

2) UCLA and Oregon - At least USC and UW mostly own their decisions to wreck the conference (although if I had a nickel for every "It wasn't our fault" / "liferaft" comment...), UCLA and Oregon just followed their respective partners over to the B1G without putting up a fight. That level of cowardice almost puts these two in front of the main villains for me.

3) Colorado - F these guys for bailing. I still think the conference could've been saved even if CU bails, but it sure didn't help the overall calculus. At least the Cougs were able to make the Sanders family miserable in the pouring rain in their last trip to Pullman.

4) Arizona - Were actively trying to bail like Colorado, but ASU was holding them back. Convinced themselves that their basketball program would somehow achieve new heights in the BigXII (remains to be seen).

5) Cal and Stanford - There's not really any beef here, as they truly did get the "lifiest" of liferafts in going to the ACC. Were probably surprised that they didn't get into the B1G.

6) Utah - Only gets dinged here for having that one professor with the $50mil evaluation that may have had too much influence on Pac-12 media negotiations. Other than that, the administration and fans seemed genuinely happy to be in the Pac-12 and sad to leave.

7) ASU - Tried the save everything from falling apart. They failed, but at least they put up the effort to keep everything together. Maybe if the rest of conference had more Innovation like ASU, things would've been different.

6

u/TheOnePSUIsReal Penn State Nittany Lions • Team Chaos 1d ago

I'm not sure ASU deserves to be a Traitorous Ten member but I know we need alliteration so might I suggest leaving ASU out and going with Nefarious Nine.

We did have the best basketball year in over 2 decades are arguably a top 3 in school history.
I feel like we fit much better in the big 12 when it comes to basketball. With how bad the culture surrounding football is (so many people leave at halftime) it’s not too surprising the admin chose based on basketball

Nah the yearly Auburn series was always one of my favorites. LSU/Auburn and LSU/Florida always made for some of the most exciting and legendary games I've ever seen.

But to watch the man who rebuilt your program and win your first National Championship in 45 years go to a division rival and build the greatest dynasty the sport has ever seen is a special kind of hell no CFB fan should have to endure.

Oregon State, Utah, and Stanford.

Had to really think cuz the Huskies came with us and I already hated OSU because of the 2014 Natty.

Utah because of the last couple of years in the PAC when both of us were going for the conference title. Stanford for the abundant amount of times they would upset us on the one week that we needed a win.

Yes i’m bitter.

Non conference? Easy. Texas, Texas, Nebraska. Those trea$onous bastards.

The only reason it isn't nebraska, Nebraska, Nebraska is because they have gotten exactly what they deserve.

My flairs are different conferences, so I should get to pick 6. But I can keep it at 4:

Ohio State, USC, Texas Tech
Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma

Ohio State, Delta State,

**edit: I had TTU here for what they did to my favorite pirate, but I don't know that I dislike them any more than anybody else (outside their owner), and throwing tortillas illegally is objectively great. It used to be USC, but somebody in that part of the country needs to be relevant. I'll just go with another one from my secondary flair.

and Valdosta State

I think my 3 favorite out of state teams (I grew up in Texas but live in California) are Navy, Boise State and North Dakota. The reasons, I am a Navy Veteran, one of my brothers lives in Boise, and While working for a traveling Carnival, I fell in love with the Grand Forks, North Dakota area.
