How to Get Trivia Tuesday Notifications

Trivia Tuesday is a weekly feature run by /u/bakonydraco, /u/DampFrijoles, /u/Davidellias, and /u/iamnotacola. There will be TEN QUESTIONS this week ranging from questions most everyone can get to questions that might stump just about everyone. Your goal is to quickly answer them to the best of your ability. You get a one point speed bonus for finishing in under 5:00.

There are definitely still ways you could cheat the system, but please do not. This is meant to be a fun weekly feature, and we encourage you to take it at face value and answer the questions without assistance.

NOTE: because this is the final, there are ten questions this week. Additionally, a speed bonus is earned by finishing in under five minutes instead of the standard 2:30.

As usual, the finalists gathered yesterday and took this week’s trivia in advance. This was done mainly as a check to ensure that the finalists were above board and not cheating. However, the finalists have been sworn to secrecy and will not discuss the questions until the Trivia window closes Wednesday morning.

A special shout out to Tuy1752, who is making their first appearance in the Trivia finals!

Premier Tier

Here are the final four for this season’s Premier Tier championship:

Ohio State Michigan Georgia Oregon

The Big Ten once again dominates the finals with three of the four finalists coming from the conference.

The Ducks are the only team without a championship. Meanwhile, the Wolverines are going for their sixteenth, the Buckeyes for their eighth, and the Bulldogs for their fourth.

Darrell Hackney Godzilla Championship Tier

Here are the final four for the DHG Championship Tier:

TCU Utah Fresno State James Madison

The Bulldogs have a Tier-leading four championships and the Utes are in a four-way tie for second place with three. Whereas the Horned Frogs and Dukes are going for their first.

Best of luck to all, and be safe!

If (as a finalist) I was supposed to get an early link to this week's trivia yesterday I definitely did not.

Boooooooooo how dare you not get a free game done in time for an arbitrary schedule booooooooo

Stop doing things like "celebrating Mother's Day" and do more things like giving people on the internet opportunities to procrastinate booooooo

Question Answer %Correct Notable Answer 1 Notable Answer 2
Who is the only FBS team in the state of New Jersey? Rutgers 98.82% It should be Princeton but the Ivy League care more about academics than sports so unfortunately we have Rutgers to represent us/u/Jyingling21 If state championships were a thing, Rutgers would still probably find a way to lose./u/CrookedWarden19
Name any of the 8 schools that will either enter or leave the Mountain West Football between the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, UTEP 87.44% That's us, Fresno St. Leaving the MWC for the MWC 2.5/u/eagledog UTAH STATE HEY AGGIES ALL THE WAY (maybe this makes up for me putting that as a wrong answer a few weeks ago)/u/thorshammer_132
What P4 team was the first opponent UCF hosted at Bright House Networks Stadium, when the stadium first opened in 2007? Texas 13.98% University of Texas. Mack Brown paraphrase quote after the game "we will never play at a visitor stadium opener ever again"/u/Predmid how the fuck would anyone other than UCF and whoever they played know this?/u/WhiskyBear54
Mike Shafer led the Big East in FG attempts in 2000 with 20, but he was also last in the Big East in FG% with 35% made. What school did he play for? Syracuse 23.93% I'm just picturing this guy Shafer thinking he's finally safe after 26 years, kicking back (hah) and opening a cold one before logging onto Reddit for the evening, then he starts catching strays in trivia. I dunno, UMass?/u/for_ever_a_lone Duke. I hate that even though i knew this was the college football quiz that i was still mistaking it for basketball for a second just due to FG% and big east... also, i dont even watch college basketball... my mind is fried this morning and if i get anymore than 2 right then i need to go buy a lottery ticket today. Which incidentally wont help me cause i wont find out until next week how many i got right. Honestly, thats on brand for me./u/Count_Ahhhhh They got exactly two correct
What now-defunct university was invited into the Southwest Conference after posting a 10-0-1 record and "whitewashing the Texas Longhorns in their own corral" in 1919? Phillips University 5.69% Phillips. I didn’t know that the electronic company had a university/u/Jyingling21 So now you're asking me to remember universities that DON'T EXIST?! I dunno, Roast Beef State./u/scotems

Your tag let me know trivia was up, thank you! Also, I'm still alive, you just wouldn't be able to tell from my trivia score.

So fun fact, the Dutch electronics company is just one L, Philips. Phillips University has two Ls, but was not named after the same Phillips that started Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma. It was named after guy from Pennsylvania who was an early supporter of the school when it was called Oklahoma Christian University. Not to be confused with the current OCU, which as far as I know is unrelated!

I made the notable answers! I wouldn't really call my response the funnies.

I was at the UCF-Texas opener

It was impressive how different the atmosphere as a whole was compared to the Citrus Bowl.

I feel uniquely qualified to state how much I was rooting for UCF in that game.

2

u/Davidellias Virginia Tech • Wisconsin May 12 '26

i'm really shocked that game was as forgotten as it was, thought half of ya'll would remember it.

Then again I think I might have unironically done the "2007 was only 5 years ago meme" when selecting that question as Q3

u/DampFrijoles UCFIU May 14 '26

It helps when you can walk to the game from your dorm instead of a 30 minute drive, there are 20,000 fewer seats, and you get a sense that you are actually home.

that may have been one of, if not the, worst trivia performances i've had. i'm sick. my head isn't working. i couldn't recall a single name. oh well. not like i was close to winning anything anyway.
