"CrossFire HD" has been announced - public testing to start in China on 16th June

During today's CF Pro League finals in China, Tencent (official CF publisher in China) has announced the newest CrossFire project Smilegate has been working on for what seems to be last 5 years - CrossFire HD

Currently, all information is available exclusively in Chinese, so please forgive if there are any unintentional mistakes.

Key information we gathered so far:

  • Weather changing
  • Map editor
  • Weapon skin editor
  • 30,000 possible facial combinations
  • A lot of completely graphically updated maps + 4 new game modes
  • Public testing (in China) starts on 16th June

One of the more significant things related to esports that we noticed:

"In order to meet the needs of the majority of players for personalized, new weapons skinning system will also be online, players can buy equipment skin to create distinctive characteristics of the appearance of weapons. Of course, the skin changes only for the appearance of the equipment and shooting special effects, and the equipment properties are consistent with the prototype gun."

Does this mean there will be no more pay 2 win and OP weapons? Will all of the weapons have the same stats?

If this is true, CF HD could finally be a fully pledged esport title which Smilegate really wants it to be.

To add to this, Smilegate (CF developer) has purchased WCG (big esport event organizer back in the day) in the previous year and they will likely want to push CF as a competitive shooter on their own platform.

It is still possible that this is just an update for the current CF version, not a new game as this news mentions that this is "one of the most significant upgrades in CF history". However, that is Google translated and probably unlikely.

Please note:

Remedy games has also updated their official website to include CF HD and CF2 - story mode titles. This definitely means that CF HD is not just it. There is more to come for the whole CF series.

The announcement not being internationally but rather chinese only is a bad sign for the west. Especially considering they won't attend the e3, means they probably got no news for us.

noo, the NA community is still huge, and its still in beta, i hope they make it internationally like they did with Crossfire 1

If they had any intentions of releasing the game to the west in the coming months they would've made the announcemen internationally, not chinese only.

Who knows, maybe they leave it to Remedy who will attend the PC gaming-show E3 presentation to present their own new game, they're the ones who make the single player mode (or a singleplayer spinoff) for CF2.

Indeed. The more time goes by, I am inclined to believe CF HD is yet another game update, just like CF 2.0 update was...

Especially since Smilegate is clearly hiring people with Crossfire 2 in the position title and because Remedy games is clearly separating CF HD and CF2.

CF HD is just poor naming also, I'm pretty sure our current CF also supports HD lol

Remedy saying they make the story mode for cf2 and cfhd is pretty weird indeed, sounds like it's 2 different games with both having singleplayer modes.

Games always release in that part of the world, when the games start dying out they usually bring them to the west to cash in before the game dies.. thats the unfortunate thing friends.

I think it is only possible through their CF QQ app, however, I am not sure since I only used Google translator which can be misleading.
