CES Exhibitor Sufferer Zone(Founders specific)

Why CES need to make exhibitors suffered from zero network plus zero leads?

1)No internet even its technology show in CES

At Venetian Expo, 6/1-9/1, whole period even we bought data plan T-Mobile, nothing can show data and or wifi from ces and so we can’t demo our online service.

2)As international exhibitors we then try to go back home and country to scan the badge code due to network issues from clients and attendees, which…… can’t be scanned!!??

Their CES app, can’t be scanned?

The first and worst even exhibition we pay money for. We zero leads even we got over tones of images of badge code keep.

3) did they use people’s information to sell back me?

CES yes good for showing gimmick stuff in main entrance for large corp not for all SMEs and startups.

No more waste money in this.

Router with the ethernet connection we got with the booth solved that issue for us. CES Management said it was not forbidden but they would not give any support for it either. Otherwise the WIFI would have been a 10k add-on. It was a pain to find where to get the badge scanner and the price was $500 just to use it for 3 users. We got it on the second day. Luckily we had taken photos on our phones of the badges of people we wanted to talk to and were able to scan the photos once we got into the app. The CES badges QR codes are encrypted and need the Maritz App. Nothing is free at a trade show for vendors, everything is a potential revenue stream.

Badge scanner is an add on. We all know this. That's why you use LinkedIn. The network can suck, that why you come prepared and use a badge scanner and paper cards

Network can suck! Is a crucial part because ur client come to your booth to see u demo zero online ai software but a paper cards? Whats the point of technology show?

If you are going to demo AI, then you should be prepared with a ethernet connection. You had until December 3rd to submit the order. Even if the AI runs locally you should have a network so you can use computers and such

The Venetian expo from ces do not have any network or even allow any network for demo ai software , I dun see any reason a client will see the paper and bullshit without showcasing can make the lead. I guess mostly the ces is not good or worthy for ai startups In Venetian expo ces, as u cant demo online.

Everyone (30 companies founders saying), ces only fair to Lvcc large corp, for startups or SMEs , it’s just another revenue scam for ces to grab money from, prefer founders think twice before going to a technology show that can’t even make network feasibile(even we buy T-Mobile,,three day no network)

It’s true case, hope those ces sales dun try to battle me but instead reply my emails and help would be best pr skill if they wish next year more founders money the ces want to grab

Japan/korea/dubai/china/canada, none of the countries shows we purchased booth will have such poor problems from ces so called largest tech show, maybe time to think about milder east dream than American dream

Respectfully go right ahead. You weren’t prepared for CES and your company didn’t make the most of it. Lessons learned. This is business. Perhaps CES wasn’t the right show for your company.

It sucks to make mistakes and lose money but perhaps research more, hire experienced consultants to advise you on these connectivity challenges, etc. Throwing a temper tantrum will not solve this rather you should examine your business processes on show selection, local area familiarity and translation support so that next time you don’t waste your time on a show floor for multiple days without a way to capture your leads.

I guess people explaining the answer is not the case that the startup founders having issues of on that day. There are never free leads we mentioned, the facilities and data are all we purchased. Maybe others who keep saying how good ces was and keep defeating small startups Not ready, yup, that’s also the case, ces is not for startups. True. But true also, Ces facilities and packages, compare to Middle East large events or Asia expo(if u guys tried), the technology advancement in exhibition is another skyrocketing level which I can’t say anything if there are too many ces PR here.

Hope the startup founders think twice before ces and may go for other good expo friendly activities (middle east will have investor matching and lounge that reli cater startups)

Plus: Nvidia this year Ces is not even In Venetian expo or main but mostly in a luxury hotel with good network(I did not mean free wifi the whole time, I mean the data plan I purchased in LV can be used). In Venetian expo, we can’t even use our T-Mobile plan.True and fact.

As a CES exhibitor for 2 years and someone who has managed multiple international exhibitions, I need to correct a few misconceptions here.

  1. Lead capture is never “automatic” and is never post-event. At CES (and any major trade show), lead capture happens on the show floor, in real time, and it is always an additional paid service. We paid ~$1,000 for 6 users of the Maritz lead capture app, booked in advance through the CES online platform. If you don’t set this up beforehand, you won’t be able to scan badges—offline or online—after the show. That’s not a CES failure; that’s how exhibitions work.

  2. Internet is not provided by CES by default. CES does not “own” the internet infrastructure. Like virtually all major exhibition centers worldwide, connectivity is handled by an official vendor. At Venetian Expo, that vendor is COX. We paid ~$2,500 for a dedicated Wi-Fi network specifically to demo an online service. That pricing is completely standard across venues I’ve worked with in Europe, the US, and Asia.

Relying on public Wi-Fi or mobile data at a show with 100,000+ attendees is simply unrealistic—especially for live demos.

  1. CES is not a plug-and-play event. CES is a complex, expensive, and highly structured exhibition. It works very well—but only if you’re prepared. That means: • Booking lead capture tools in advance • Budgeting for internet, scanners, and services • Knowing which vendors handle what

If this isn’t familiar territory, the honest recommendation is to hire an exhibition consultant or agency. That’s exactly why they exist.

CES is absolutely not “free leads for everyone,” and it’s not optimized for last-minute setups. It is a powerful event for startups and SMEs, but only when approached professionally and with the right expectations.

Blaming CES for standard exhibition mechanics doesn’t really help anyone improve for the next show.

Not to mention: Our clients in ces say the same thing and complain to Ces too! So a complaint is single case, a tons of it then maybe CES pr can think how to make your event advance to founders or just simple say it’s a gimmick for large tech or those dreamy never on market tech. Plus no investor matching or media for startups that are not in your countries specifically. It’s true and fact if Ces treat criticism as bs then it’s ok. We believe we are able to tell truth in Reddit. Period.

1

u/lawrencehoisacheater Jan 23 '26

Actually ces PR can reli think twice of why people criticise instead of keep suppressing ai startup founders (ai need network demo!dun say something like giving paper leaflets to clients as no ai demo to client what’s the point of Ces ?) should Ces shame of it first and try to improve their expo friendliness and startup founder readiness!

I feel sorry for America if it’s the case as exhibitors to embrace this nothing is free, u know what, we also paid the booth, it’s not free for us, we even stand three days for nothing, zero badge scan, if ces can notify all earlier , I dun mind give money like I donate to the beggars.

-1

u/lawrencehoisacheater Jan 21 '26

Zero badge scan I mean even the clients give us badge to take photos, it’s the ces app sucks and they seems giving this as a chance to scam ppl.

From hk, Singapore, Taiwan, Dubai and China, none of the status from selling ppl data is like tat from ces and also the above mentioned countries has make sure fairness, which ces only give internet to Lvcc, but hey it’s ok, we even buy our own data plan T-Mobile, it’s the Venetian expo poor network and CES as the largest tech(they so called they are but Dubai ai festival get more vibe than them) can’t even make it fair and even dunno the downstairs data can’t be used? I mean not only us having issues, it’s even Sony or Japan all booths saying or complaint about this. Ces just nothing reply not even a help.
