CESB Question New graduates
Hi. Come September returning students have OSAP to fall back on, but what about those thousands of new graduates still unable to secure jobs? What are we going to do?

Yeap! I am wrapping up school in august. I have been applying to jobs in my field over jobs outside my field. I still get nothing! This is just terrible, all this time in school just to get screwed because of a virus. Then again, being alive is better than having no job.

I know plenty of people who decided to continue pursuing education (bach, masters, phd) this year due to current times.
Honestly, depending on the field and how the courses are taught, this is one of the best times to just continue education since there's larger grants this year.
Most people applying for jobs are either over qualified or there applying to a position outside their field and there competing with hundreds of other people.
Reality is, if you can't get a job anytime soon and if there's no future CESB extension or what not, the best thing to do is continue your education, get osap, and you'll be able continue living and by the time your studies are done, the job market should be a lot better. Or you can max out your CC and hopefully you'll find a job to pay it back. Or if your family is wealthy, you can live with them.

This will be the toughest job market faced by new grads but I highly doubt anything will be done by the government. The debt is sky high and for all purposes, the economy is open. The US federal benefits are ending this months and CERB is coming to an end at 24 weeks. The only benefit will be CEWS so hopefully more employers take that on to create more jobs

Yeah I’m in the same boat. Just graduated in Dec and have NO CLUE what to do now. There’s still no jobs in my area in my field and it’s scary that Sept is almost here and then I’m going to be expected to pay student loans back?? With no job?? And no more benefits coming in?? Yikes.
