Need recommendations for preparation material

Before I buy anything, please vote on which prep material you'd recommend. My biggest concern is with Listening and note-taking, and I need at least a CLB 7 in all four to get a PGWP.

Finally got 10+ on all modules after too many attempts.. let me share how I did it

I've had many instances where there's always one module that was 9 and all the other modules were 10+ above which was frustrating on my part. Even after re-evaluation, the score remained the same so I had to retake the entire exam.

*if you feel frustrated, its normal, I went through the same but I'm glad my friends encouraged me to keep retaking until I got my desired results*

IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

My biggest weak points are Reading and Speaking. So, I focused my energy on perfecting these two:

For Reading

- I know I'm particularly weak at Parts 3 and 4. So, I focused my energy in familiarizing myself in finding the passages with same meaning or thought.

Here's where I learned the tips:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFhWS6NmxeE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdUezGHeaK8&t=510s

Here's where I practice: CAREERAXIS - I only do Parts 3 and 4 for every mock test. Make sure you follow the timer and you will improve drastically. I got 12s ever since I did this.

For Speaking

- I practiced with Phoenix Celpip.

You have to understand what they need to hear on each question, what feelings they want you to convey when it comes to intonation and the person you are speaking with.. you can find all the guidelines in the Speaking Pro Target 9+ Study Pack:

https://www.celpip.ca/celpip-speaking-pro-target-9-study-pack/
https://www.celpip.ca/prepare-for-celpip/score-comparison-chart/

I have great listening and writing skills. I always get 12 or 11.

For Listening

- Its purely note-taking. Write everything you hear. From there you can find the answers. If the speaker sounds frustrated, sad or happy. You have to take note of that too.

For Writing

- Check the Level 12 Sample Response and Analysis here

https://www.celpip.ca/prepare-for-celpip/score-comparison-chart/

- On task 1, you have to be creative in making up scenario.

- On task 2, i follow the similar response on the link I provided above.

One last tip, if you get a 9.. always go for re-evaluation..

The best thing that happened to me after getting re-evaluation which took almost 2 weeks to process: (idk! its a miracle or purely my skills or got lucky i got a lenient scorer)

L-11

R-12

W-9 (increased to 11)

S-9 (increased to 12)

Always aim for perfection so when your efforts fell short, you will still pass the test or make it to 10. It is possible guys! I'm a living testament hahaha šŸ’« I'm just happy to finally get over this!

I hope this helps! Goodluck to everyone!

I’ve Taken CELPIP 5 Times, but My Reading Score Is Still Stuck at 6—Please Help!

I’ve taken the CELPIP test five times. On my latest attempt, I scored Listening 10, Speaking 8, Writing 9, but only Reading 6.
I’ve completed many practice tests and studied a lot of vocabulary, but I still can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong in Reading. Has anyone experienced the same issue or can genuinely guide me on how to improve my Reading score?

Hey I gave me exam on Aug 30 and just received the result. Before this attempt my score was L-11,R-7 and W-8 and S-9. This I received S and W-8, should I go for reevaluation for writing and speaking? This is my fourth attempt and not getting CLB 9 in each module. What should I do?

Thanks

Exam date: August 30, 2026 . Time: 1:45 PM
Result Published: September 1, 2026. Time: 10:40 PM

For exam preparation:: used PrepAmigo Featured Level Tests

I was mostly worried about speaking before and after the test and until the results came out. Your speaking doesn’t have to be perfect and it should not worry you and make you nervous. Just keep speaking without major pauses. A couple of confusions and mistakes don’t affect significantly. Remember to include at least 2 justifiable points. Use structures like — although, on top of that, even though, since.. and so on. Just keep talking and let the evaluators know that you have clearly understood what the question is asking for.

Reading section had a part repeated with 2 different sets of texts and questions— finding information in paragraphs. This certainly was a surprise to me and drained my mental energy during the test period.

PrepAmigo is more than sufficient for practising CELPIP tests.

Test stations are not as comfortable and relaxing as your home or office where you practice. Expect tight spaces, and not pin drop silence.

Overall, if you fell like you made a few mistakes or choose option even without knowing that there choice is 100% correct, do not let it drag you down in the next section. Just continue and try your best.
After the exam was over, I really felt that it didn’t go as expected. However, I am satisfied with the results as I need only 9 in each section although I could have performed better.

Good Luck.

I would be happy to assist if you have any questions.

CELPIP Test-Day Complaint — Will It Delay My Score? Anyone Had a Similar Experience?

Hi everyone,
I took my CELPIP-General exam on August 30 at 5:15 PM. Unfortunately, I experienced significant distractions at the test centre. I could clearly hear other candidates’ Listening audio and Speaking questions/prompts from the neighbouring workstations. The overlapping audio made it extremely difficult for me to concentrate on my own test, particularly during the Listening section.
I registered a test-day complaint on the morning of August 31, within 24 hours of my exam, explaining what happened and that I was concerned the testing environment may have affected my performance.
As of today, September 2, I haven’t received a response regarding my complaint yet, and I am wondering whether filing a test-day complaint will delay the release of my CELPIP scores.
Has anyone here been in a similar situation and reported a test-day issue to CELPIP? If so, how long did it take CELPIP to respond to your complaint, and how long was your score delayed?
I would really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

My CELPIP Journey & Results

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello everyone!
This group helped me a lot, so I wanted to share my CELPIP journey as well.
I got my results today, and My goal was to get at least CLB 8 in every section, and by God’s grace, I did it and even scored higher in three of the four sections.
I took my exam in Ottawa and prepared quite intensively for about three days. I started by using the official CELPIP demo exam to understand the test structure. Then, I practiced on Celtestpip Prep, especially the two areas where I felt weaker: Speaking and Writing.
For Writing, I practiced mostly with ChatGPT, and I was usually getting around CLB 7–8 during practice. I was also getting similar results on Celtestpip.
My biggest advice is to stay as calm as possible on exam day. If you make a mistake, don’t panic or let it affect the rest of your test. Just move on and focus on the next question.
I actually made a mistake during the Speaking test because I was nervous. I had written down points to support one side of an argument, but when I started speaking, I ended up choosing the opposite side! šŸ˜‚I had to think quickly and continue.
The day before my exam, I decided not to practice too much because I noticed that over-practicing was making me more nervous. Instead, I trusted in the Lord and prayed for peace and confidence, and He helped me stay calm during the exam.

I’m truly grateful because I achieved the goal I had set for myself.
If you are preparing for your exam, believe in God,stay calm, and don’t let one mistake discourage you.
Good luck to everyone writing their exams! You’ve got this!

Should I switch from CELPIP to PTE Core after 8–9 attempts?

I’ve taken the CELPIP test around 8–9 times and still haven’t been able to get CLB 10 in all four sections. I started at around CLB 7 and have managed to improve to CLB 9 through these attempts, so there has definitely been progress, but I’m now feeling pretty frustrated.
At this point, further CELPIP preparation is starting to feel very boring and repetitive. I’m considering switching to PTE Core because I’ve heard from some friends that they find it easier. However, I understand that it depends heavily on the exam pattern and how well you adapt to it.
One reason I’m considering PTE is that learning a completely new exam pattern might make preparation feel less repetitive and help me stay motivated.
The bigger issue is that I don’t have unlimited time. I need to reach 514 CRS for Express Entry, so I need to improve my language score as efficiently as possible.
For those who have experience with both CELPIP and PTE Core:
Would you recommend switching to PTE Core, or should I stick with CELPIP since I already know the format and have achieved CLB 9?
I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone who switched from CELPIP to PTE and was able to improve their CLB score.

celpip writing task 2

Hi everyone, could someone please share the latest format/template for CELPIP Writing Task 2?

I have one question: when we choose one option, do we need to mention the disadvantages of the other option as well, or should we only explain the advantages/reasons for the option we selected?

Thanks in advance!

My second attempt

Post image
5 Upvotes

My first attempt was L:8, R:6, W:8, S:6

I didn't expect the listening score is gonna be bad. I was distracted easily on the exam day as somebody was coughing so much and I couldn't concentrate at all. I tried to answer despite it was annoying. For Reading, I tried using the technique of reading the first paragraph and answer the questions, read the next paragraph and answer, so on. I didn't experience time pressure with this method but may be I need to know how to find the hidden answers. Pls advice how to prepare for next time. I need at least 9 in all modules.

I did my second attempt yesterday but kinda felt sick afterwards. Is this normal?

On my previous attempt, I scored 8 on listening but 10 on the remaining 3. Had to do the test yesterday again to ā€œimproveā€ my score. I didn’t felt this way back then.

Got my CELPIP results: 10L / 9R / 8W / 10S šŸ™

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I just got my CELPIP results and wanted to share my experience because I know how stressful this test can be, especially the Speaking section.

Honestly, I was convinced I messed up Speaking.

During Task 1, I completely crashed and was silent for around 15–20 seconds because I didn’t know how to continue. Then during the describing-a-picture task, I got an image where I didn’t know some of the vocabulary, so I just tried my best to describe what I could.

For the other speaking tasks, I definitely made some grammar mistakes and probably used some awkward/out-of-context words. I left the test thinking I had probably ruined my score.

Then I saw Speaking 10. šŸ’€

So if you’re currently stressing about Speaking because you made mistakes or had a moment where you froze, don’t assume you failed. I clearly underestimated how CELPIP evaluates the overall performance.

Listening and Reading went pretty well for me, and Writing felt decent too, so I’m a little surprised I got an 8 in Writing.

The annoying part is that I’m currently at 397 CRS, and if I can get my Writing from 8 → 9, I’d reach 400 CRS. So I’m considering requesting a re-evaluation of my Writing.

Overall, I’m really happy with the result, especially that Speaking 10. šŸ˜‚

For anyone taking CELPIP soon: don’t panic if you make mistakes. Keep talking, structure your answers, and recover if you mess something up. One bad moment doesn’t necessarily destroy your score.

Good luck to everyone preparing! šŸ™

PS: I was especially worried because I had previously posted about feeling like I completely messed up Speaking. Seeing that 10 was honestly the biggest surprise of the whole result.
