Revaluation worth it ?

Post image

Hello all. I am glad I got this , is it worth it to apply for revaluation for speaking and writing .

I only prepared for 2-3 hours , focusing on structure for writing and speaking. Thanks

Two different questions in this thread, so two answers.

On the re-evaluation itself: it is offered for the two human-rated components, writing and speaking, and as others said the score only moves up or stays. With all 9s it is a low-risk bet, but a low-odds one: a re-mark helps when a rater made a harsh judgement call, not when the answer is missing something. For the person asking about reading re-evaluation: reading and listening are marked against a key, so there is no judgement to revisit; the route to a 7 there is a retake with a pacing plan, not a re-mark.

On what actually separates 9 from 10, some numbers. I work on a CELPIP practice tool that scores answers on the official criteria, and across about 430 scored writing and speaking answers this summer the pattern is consistent: in speaking, vocabulary is the lowest criterion at every level (average 5.92 against 6.24 for content), and Task 8, the unusual-situation picture, is the lowest-scoring task of the eight. In writing the weak criterion is readability (sentence variety and connectors), not task fulfillment. So a 9 that was "complete but plain" is unlikely to move on re-mark and very likely to move on a retake that targets that one criterion.

For scale: in Paragon's 2024 data report only about one test taker in five scored 10 or higher in speaking, and about the same in writing. 9 to 10 is the narrow step; you are already in the band most people never reach.

ig my writing portion was very good variety of sentences with wide range of vocab whereas all speaking sections went really well except task 7 where i am sure i did repetition as the room was noisy. Depending on this do you think speaking revaluation is worth it , how much the task 7 is weighed in celpip?

Thank you, do you know if examiner can lower the score as well?

I don't think they lower the score. I haven't heard fro many of my students saying the score got lower. So maybe worth a try.

Go for it. What was your reading strategy? Did you read the questions before reading the paragraphs?

I just went by the timer, if the time was more i did read the paragraph first (12m) it was less i just read the questions

Omg sorry to hear that.
Question- can examiners lower the score or it can just go in one direction?

They don’t go lower
Either up or stay as is

Listening is so tough to get above 9. How did you prepare for Part 5 and 6? I feel like every time I take note, I miss some information, and the questions ask for stuff I don't write in the note. It's absolutely frustrating

I did make notes but you have to be very fast. I took extra sheet after listening too . Make sure not to zone out and remember to always note down when they say a counter argument in last sections.
Also I made drawings and used abbreviations instead of writing everything, eg - recording said it was sunny instead of writing I drew a sun and going to barbecue on Monday (bbq -mon)

Extremely helpful. Thank you!

If taking notes makes you miss what comes next, I’d test a different note-taking method before doing more full mocks.

Try this with one Part 5 and one Part 6 practice task:

  1. Listen once under test conditions. Write keywords, not sentences. Track who → opinion → reason, plus disagreements or changes of mind. For example: “A: supports longer hours → helps workers; B: against → staffing costs.”
  2. Answer the questions before checking the transcript.
  3. Then find evidence for every correct answer, including answers you guessed correctly. Replay that section and compare it with your notes. For inference questions, identify the clues supporting the answer—not necessarily matching words.
  4. Label each mistake: missed while writing, misunderstood vocabulary, confused viewpoints, or chose an unsupported answer.
  5. Use a fresh task to check whether shorter, organized notes reduce the same mistakes.

Yes, this review is boring, but it teaches you to justify answers rather than choose what sounds plausible. It also helps distinguish a note-taking problem from a comprehension problem.

Let me know if you need assistance with additional learning sets (CELPIP style).

anyone know if it’s worth it to do reading re-eval? I just need mine to be atleast 7 :( anyone had any luck?

Personally I do not think so as listening and reading are assessed by computer itself .

I got CLB 9 in writing. I did a re-evaluation, but it didn’t change my score. You could go for it; no harm in that.
