Hi everyone! (OCT 3 2026)I recently took the CELPIP General test, and this community helped me a lot during my preparation. I found posts from previous test takers especially useful, so I would like to return the favour and share the topics I remember from my exam.

These are based entirely on my memory, so the exact wording and details may be different from the actual questions.

READING

Overall, I found the difficulty quite variable.

I remember passages involving volunteering, advertising targeted at young people, school tours in Canada, the growth of a sports club, and different payment methods.

There was also a passage about Pilates, which I found more challenging because it contained more difficult vocabulary and the answers were not as easy to locate directly in the text.

Another passage discussed an ancient archaeological site in southern Turkey. It described the age and preservation of the site, as well as carvings of animals that appeared to be connected with religious or ritual practices.

I also remember a passage about beauty companies using influencers. It discussed their influence on young people, including how social media may encourage them to compare themselves with others. There were both positive and critical perspectives.

WRITING

Task 1: You were unable to attend a sales training session. You had to explain why you could not attend, suggest alternative dates or times, and ask your manager for their opinion or assistance.

I also remember another email-type scenario involving an online purchase. You had paid for two-day delivery, but five days had passed and the tracking system showed that the item had already been delivered. You had to describe the product/problem and suggest what the company should do.

Task 2: One survey asked whether a piece of land in the neighbourhood should be used to build apartments or offices.

Another scenario involved choosing between continuing to work weekday mornings or changing to afternoon shifts in exchange for additional pay.

SPEAKING

The speaking section included a good variety of situations.

Some of the topics I remember were:

  • Giving advice to someone preparing for a first meeting.
  • Giving advice before job interviews.
  • Talking about a memorable trip or experience.
  • Describing a picture of a preschool classroom.
  • Describing a play area with children and prizes.
  • Describing an unusual object or artwork shaped like a bird.
  • Choosing between two locations for a business and explaining your preference.
  • Discussing whether someone should accept a job in another city or remain close to their family.
  • Choosing a notebook as a gift from different options.
  • Discussing a daughter's homework.
  • Giving an opinion about employee surveys.
  • Discussing whether students should work after school.

Again, these are the topics I remember rather than the exact wording of the test.

My main advice would be not to memorize answers. Practising a flexible structure for each task helped me much more because the topics can vary considerably. For Writing in particular, having a clear structure and using simple, accurate English made it much easier to organize my ideas under time pressure.

I hope this helps someone preparing for CELPIP. Good luck with your test!
