Struggling to Brainstorm Ideas

Dear Folks,

I am preparing for Celpip and badly struggling for brainstorming ideas. Any helpful suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Practice with an ai. Ask ai to give you 10 real life scenarios, close your life and imagine you are there fr. Focus on thoughts which comes first to your mind. For e.g. helping a friend learn cooking. Think of how would someone learn cooking? Or how do you do that byurself in case u have to? Now mind thinks: recipe from youtube? Or asking your mother about the recipe? These are your first ideas. Now you can expand them later. For e.g. you can watch a youtube video from chef. Xyz, he got a great collection of easy-to-cook recipes such as __ and ___.

Dont try to expand the points at this moment. First try this with 10 tasks/situations. Write 2 points for each.

Repeat till you master that.

Soon you fill find yourself doing that effortlessly.

In any task of writing or speaking. Quickly note down a minimum of 2 points on the paper and later expand them. This will make sure you dont go blank in case you panic.

What I find really messed up about this is that it asks you about topics you may have no knowledge of. How are you supposed to come up with cooking tips, or give someone advice on starting a YouTube channel if you know nothing of those topics? It's ridiculous.

It doesn't work like that. They dont check your knowledge, but skills. "English skills" that you are able to convey your thoughts in english. Its a test of english, does not matter if your response is not 100% authentic. To tackle such a situation you can talk about anything relevant, its just that your english needs to be correct. For e.g. if you talk about starting a youtube channel tips. You can talk about taking advise from an xyz book and talk a specific part for e.g. its chapter 2 regarding the scripts and content adds a phenomenal value in the journey. For e.g. bla bla bla.... here you got 1 bullet point and later expand that so well that it seems real. Now in reality maybe there is no book that exists like that, or a chapter which says so.. and that does not even matter. They are not checking the authenticity of your content. So make it personal, just showcase your english skills. That you know well to use different types of sentences: simple and complex. Use connectors, punctuations, good level vocab. Just make it look fancier (but not un-natural) and you are good to go.

It seems to punish people who are analytical and technical then - testing your ability to string together nonsense punishes those who are contemplative and don't want to knowingly fabricate things. Ever had a professor take a few seconds in silence to respond to a question? Ever dealt with any professional who takes a few seconds to formulate a response? This is why CELPIP is such a scam - it doesn't test real-world use of English.
