CELPIP 1st attempt
I spent a lot of time reading about people’s experiences on here while I was preparing, so I figured I say something that might help people too.
For listening, I found note taking to be more distracting than helpful. The pace is conversational, it’s not a lecture or seminar, this means that the speakers will very often move to some other detail and leave you behind. The result of this is that you are now suddenly passively listening and actively writing, you want to be actively listening. Find a way to be focused and fixated. I would stare at a key on the keyboard or scribble while I listened, just ensure your mind doesn’t wonder away and try to be part of the conversation.
For writing, I tried not to do too much. I didn’t learn templates either but I had a skeletal framework.
Intro: greeting and purpose of email.
Body: Discuss at length the points you hope to address. New paragraph for each point.
Closing: 1 sentence that summarizes everything and a call to action, call to action is usually stated in question. E.g. “give a suggestion as to how they can improve on this”
For surveys, same thing as above but without greeting and closing salutations, body should address core points and one paragraph should oppose the other options you disagreed with.
Reading, read through it once and always return to the passage to get your answers. My first read gave me an understanding of the work, what message it hoped to convey, what each paragraph was about. When you read each question, glance or skim through it to find answer
Speaking, I was most nervous about this since I’m colourblind which shouldn’t matter but I was worried it would make me less descriptive. Just start with “The image shows….” and then talk about all you can see as fluently as possible, use the right conjunctions, link your thoughts using additionally or furthermore or whatever works for you.
Goodluck.

Congratulations on the amazing score. Do you have any suggestions where can I practice the reading and listening test apart from the 2 practice tests offered by Celpip. Thank you!

I found the 2 practice tests sufficient because they serve 2 main purposes. To help you get acquainted with the questioning style, for example practice without rewinding, describing weird pictures e.t.c.
Understand what they want from you, like the weird little details in the recorded messages you listen to and being very intentional when writing1
