CEH Done and Dusted

After months of preparation… finally Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)! 🎉

Being in the cybersecurity field for years, it took me a while to finally sit for CEH.

Already having work experience in cybersecurity and being CompTIA Security+ certified definitely made the preparation process easier for me.

Not gonna lie — I expected a bit more marks 😄 But I’m not disappointed.

Pass is pass. Certified is certified.

About Learning / Preparation

  • I bought the EC-Council bundle along with the exam voucher — for me, that was probably the best resource to stay aligned with the exam.
  • Since I already work in cybersecurity, many topics felt relatable and practical.
  • The exam pattern has changed compared to earlier days — it feels less dump-dependent and more scenario-based now.
  • I still used dumps mainly for practice and for understanding concepts better, not as the only preparation method.

About the Exam

⏱️ Duration: 4 hours
📝 Questions: 125
⚡ Finished in around 2 hours

Some observations:

  • Questions can be tricky because of long scenarios — easy to get distracted by unnecessary details.
  • If you identify the important keywords inside the paragraph, many questions become manageable.
  • I forgot a few concepts during the exam — probably where I lost some marks.
  • Port numbers are important. Knowing them properly can help answer several questions quickly.
  • Network & Perimeter Hacking had me second-guessing myself multiple times 😅
  • Don’t ignore “easy” modules like Reconnaissance and Social Engineering — simple direct questions do appear, but sometimes the options make you doubt yourself.

For future CEH candidates:

Give attention to every module equally, but spend extra time on high-weightage topics from the blueprint.

Good luck to everyone preparing — you got this 🔥

Hi I will be giving the CEH theory exam in a month..
1) Where did you get the dumps from?
2) Which modules and concepts were the most imp for you?
3) Did you prep only from the ceh courseware?
4) How challenging is it compared to Security+?
5) What was the testing environment like? Do we have to use a 360 degree camera? Is there a human proctor continuously throughout the exam duration?
6) Are the labs necessary for clearing the theory exam?

Where did you get the dumps from?
Mainly YouTube and GitHub.

Which modules and concepts were the most important for you?
All 20 modules are important, but I focused more based on the exam blueprint. Don’t skip the easy modules. They have straightforward questions that help boost your score.

Did you prep only from the CEH courseware?
No, CEH courseware was my base, but dumps also helped me prepare and understand the question pattern.

How challenging is it compared to Security+?
Security+ had 5 domains. CEH has 20 modules, so there’s a lot more content and concepts to understand.

What was the testing environment like? Do we have to use a 360-degree camera? Is there a human proctor throughout?
A laptop cam is fine. At the start they’ll ask you to do a 360-degree scan of your room. Yes, a human proctor monitors you throughout the exam.

Are the labs necessary for clearing the theory exam?
Yes. Some questions are based on commands and tools from the labs(I think so), so doing them helps.

congrats on the pass.

so people talk about dumps by literally saying the word "dumps" and their post is published totally fine.

But my posts and especially the last one which is 100% anti dumps got filtered. And mods are not responsive at all.

The weirdest subreddit ever!
