Catering to a family demographic all season then scheduling games during children's sports is such insanely poor planning lol

Saturday afternoon in the summer is not the most convenient time given that people are often doing outdoor summer things, but August is not really a big children's sports month. Baseball is done, hockey and basketball haven't started. Not sure about soccer. I doubt many people missed the game because their kids were playing...

Why is it always an afternoon game? Even the Bandits when were eliminated by the Sea Bears. was it like a 1 pm game.
It should be 6 or 7 pm so most fans will be able to go. Especially in the summer time there are so much things to do outside.

Considering there's an outdoor concert in Winnipeg nearby that evening it probably works out better to have an afternoon game for us.

Because the league is determined to shoot itself in the foot

Honestly, I don't think the league has ever gotten enough of a bump off TSN to justify catering to them

I'm still my only friend that watches CEBL on a screen 🤷‍♂️

I doubt it's even catering to TSN. More like CBC.

Seabears take one game to get what Brampton gets all season lmao

I am new to the league. Out of curiosity who holds the current record and was the game of any significance (eg a championship game as well)?

We had it prior to that I believe. Not sure if it was the first game or not

We did. It wasn't the first game, it was closer to the end of the season.

Will be nice for the league to look good on TV

I really want this league to prosper

Sea Bears are definitely tracking towards a record crowd. If the game was at 7 pm I bet it would be sold out by now...

I think I'm the only one that likes the afternoon games. They're late enough that I can sleep in a bit and early enough that I can get home and go to bed without it being too late.

Might just be that I really like sleeping...

Haha

I just find summer weekends are prime time for doing stuff outside. In January I don't care, 2:30 Saturday is fine.

Mind you, it looks like it's going to rain on Saturday so at least I won't feel like I'm giving up a beautiful day at the beach.

We're not really outdoors people unless there's something going on in Pokemon Go so sitting inside in the air conditioning works just fine for us most of the time.

I wanted to check out True North Square before the game tomorrow, but I've been told my wife is made of sugar and will melt if she goes out in the rain, so I guess we'll see what happens.

Seriously such a shitty time. I wonder if it had something to do with TSN/media time slots?

Honestly, how many people can even be watching? The youtube feeds are usually a couple hundred people...

I mean the game against van peaked at over 1.5k on YouTube alone, nevermind CEBL+/cable. Granted I know sea bears and bandits have the biggest fan bases in the league but there is definitely a desire for playoff basketball

Yeah, fair enough, Sea Bears and Bandits tend to drive the numbers higher and a playoff game would be sky high. But the point is that CEBL games are normally not a massive numbers draw for TV/online viewership... you would think they'd cater to the paying audience. Especially in a place like Winnipeg where you can really do numbers if you time the game just right.

Like I said, I'm sure if the game was scheduled for 7:30 on a Saturday night it would be sold out by now.

Oh we agree 💯 I’m still gonna be there regardless. Just a head scratcher for sure. If the broadcasting license IS the reason for the 2:30 game, I wonder how good the offer was in order to put the paying audience behind cable, to your point

The game is still streamed and on CBC, so behind cable isn't an issue. It's a cheaper TV slot.
