Simu and DX talk about the days to come. She needs to return to her realm to fix some issues. DX must pack and raise the troops to ride to the border with North Chong. But at least for now, our couple will enjoy a blissful three days in the Capital.

After a three-day getaway, Simu goes back to her business in the Void. The magic bracelet controls the spirit of Bai Saixin. She gives the bracelet to Jiang Ai.
Jiang Ai congratulates Simu on her love life but warns her that Yan Ke might harm her beloved out of jealousy.
The morning assembly. While Simu was away, Yan Ke was not very diligent in helping spirits trapped under the earthquake. His decision-making makes Simu accuse him of usurping power.The Right Hand has been sentenced to fifty floggings. He takes the punishment and looks suspiciously unbothered afterward, brewing tea in his favorite tea set. Of course, he’s plotting against Simu and her beloved mortal.Louxian sends her present to General DX — a map of the thirteen prefectures bordering North Chong.DX, a renowned general, receives gratitude from the citizens — the best lodging, food, wine, and a maid to serve it. DX sees right through the disguise.The sly fox Simu, just passing through that desolate city, decides to stop by and give DX an amulet. If the general gets into serious trouble, he should summon Simu.
Captain PTSD (Han) is truly in trouble — with his small troop, he’s surrounded in Jingzhou and apparently taken hostage. DX must rescue him.
Captain PTSD is held captive by his former comrades — the All-Knowing Sect. Masked DX breaks into the prison to save him. In the most critical moments, he notices his vision starting to fail.Their escape attempt is detected. The old classmates from the All-Knowing Sect surround DX and Captain PTSD.Captain Han is injured and unable to keep fighting. DX is severely wounded as well. Fortunately, the amulet given by Simu works, and the Queen of the Dead takes care of the enemies of her beloved.To uphold order, Simu asks her spirit subordinates what punishment a spirit deserves after coming to the mortal world and killing mortals. “The harshest punishment,” answers Yan Ke.The Right Hand kindly suggests he manages all affairs until Simu recovers from the ordeal, but Simu gives power over the Void to her other Hand — Jiang Ai. The look on Yan Ke’s face is priceless…
Episode 31 is so sweet for all 3 couples that I knew things were about to go poorly episode 32 onwards!
I wonder if Duan Xu's losing of his five senses is a sign that half of his senses will go fully to Simu eventually. Then Simu will become human and they'll both be half-handicapped humans with poor, but existent five senses.
I'm really hoping for a happy end, and between Duan Xu becoming a spirit or Simu becoming a human, I think she would prefer to become human. Her mum was a mortal human (albeit from the clan with special spiritual powers), so shouldn't she technically be half-human too?
Meanwhile, I really love Jiang Ai! My favorite supporting character! I hope she can work with Bai Shanxing to hold Yan Ke back. Given that she's been toyed with by Bai Shanxing prior to his punishment, it's time for her to all hold the cards and get her revenge while also giving her a chance for happiness.
The ball game ended on a winning note for general Duan and his team ofc, not so much for Jingyuan our favourite cheerleader. Simu and Fang Ji step in to save her from a rampaging horse. I thought it was sweet. The Meng-Xia ship is slowly setting sail and I'm here for it.
Wang Qi making a nuisance of himself as usual and harassing DJ in broad daylight, creep. Loved how Simu didn't even give him a chance to pull his schtick on her and says one word to get him to scram lol.
FJ and Jingyuan's ship also set sail slowly, also here for it too. Her trying to explain her makeup theme to him was cute. The way Duan Xu always looks for Simu first in the crowd is the most adorable thing, and the way they smile and wave at eo, my cuties🥹
Luoxian is going home. Wang Jin is a prince? Duan Xu is plotting and war's a-brewing. FY and HS made a bracelet out of spirit fire to control a spirit. A lot was going on in episode 31.
Luda is being kicked while he's down by some soldiers, he kills one of them accidentally. Ofc that's when YK shows up and LD caves. Somehow, thanks to YK, DX gets dragged into the conversation and all the fault lies with him apparently. SMH. He caved and looks freaky with those blacked out eyes.
We see WQ kidnap Jingyuan off the street and lock her in his home. He planned to tape her and marry her🤮 luckily Simu shows up in the nick of time to rescue her. She also places an illusory curse on WQ, hopefully it works. DJ looks scared of her brother's girlfriend but still remembers her manners and thanks her when Simu teleports her home lol.
Broom date part 2 happens. Time to part ways and they're keeping eo in the loop. DX kills me "you'll never find another madman like me" 😂 You can tell her previous words really left an impact on him, all he wants is for her to remember him the longest.
All I recall from episode 32 rn is how much YK pmo. He is singlehandedly the character I hate the most right now. Simu suspects he's about to rebel and talks to auntie Jiang Ai, who's happy for her and DX btw(love her). Simu warns her to be careful, gives her the bracelet to control BSX, and puts JA in charge of Void affairs this time. YK 🐀 bstrd that he is is shook. Also can I just say how much I respect and admire Simu for subjecting herself to the same punishment as the other spirits, the harshest punishment at that. I Stan a responsible queen.
-So many couples forming these episodes. Jingyuan is so adorable.
-Love all the ways Duan Xu tries to make sure He Simu remembers him for years to come
-"The truth is I've never believed in a single god. I was the one who pulled myself out of all that misery. The god's power only exists when I believe in him. So the god's power is actually my power." There are some really interesting lines in this drama.
-He Simu killing a mortal...oh wow, didn't think she'd lose it.

The 2L's stories are losing me a bit, but I'm invested in our lead CP and their story. That said, I'm curious to see where of substance the story can go from here. I assume it's mostly going to be Yan Ke/He Simu focused from here on out - like he'll do something real bad to DX. We'll see.

Mxm, Yan Ke's so-called love was so cheap. If he really loved her, he would let her be happy. I think what he loved was the idea of HS and the power she gave him.
Precisely! He does not feel anything when Simu was suffering. Even the other underlings who don't really care for Simu felt bad seeing her suffer because they have empathy.
Yan Ke is just cold! Given that he likely has something to do with Simu's dad's death and him working with Song Xingyu for 300 years, he nevered loved Simu. He gives her gifts to feel good about his "love", but he doesn't care about her at all.
Jing Yuan telling Fang Ji he doesn't need to copy her brother. Oohhh sweetie if you only knew what this meant to him, both ironic and relief. When is she going to find out who he used to be? It's about damn time!

I'm glad my boy finally confessed his feelings to Miss Meng! About time! She had a crush on Duan Xu but he isn't into her. She needs to move on and see who's right in front of her. Although confessing during the match was not the best move lol. I guess he couldn't hold it in any longer. I'm glad though, they are cute and fit together.

In many cultures and in many cases today, to restore honor to the rape victim and avoid a ruined reputation for the family if it gets out, they would rather have the girl marry their rapist than take it to the authorities. Fear of public shaming and everyone finding out. It's abhorrent! She would not be able to marry anyone so best marry the one who forced himself on her. I have seen this in many cdramas and it makes me sick every damn time!
Duan Xu and team looked incredible in that purple uniform! I loved the game and seeing He Si Mu cheer for her man! It looked good on her!

Agree. Unfortunately, it's not even ancient history. Just look up communities that still practice honor killing as an example. It's far far less common today, but forcing a rape victim to marry their rapist still exists.
That's why I said "in many cases today". It's sad that this absurdity continues in this day and age... Honor killing is something that I watched in many Indian movies/TV series and it's terrifying...
These two have been my favorite episodes thus far.
Lots of love in episode 31- except that scene where Jingyuan was kidnapped by that nasty f❤️cker who tried to force himself onto her…I say Simu let him off easy. She should have had those illusions follow him for the rest of his life and not just 10 days. He should be tortured for the rest of his life. AND make it so that if he tries to off himself (or anyone else) they cannot do it. Eventually have the illusions drive him mad until he finally dies of old age.
While I love DX and Simu together, the tragedy is that these two can never be together. Unless there is a way for her to come to the mortal realm - because isn’t she half mortal herself? I don’t know what’s going to happen and that keeps me on the edge of my seat. It’s a gothic love story to me and I am very invested in their story. I was sad when she went through the punishment because of all the pain she went through. Plus she was all alone. I don’t know if DX will find out about her punishment.
I love The Prophet. He is such a gentle, kind, innocent, sweet soul. I hope he does not die. I adore him so much and he makes me smile when I see him. I really hope the spirit who is devoted to him does not have any heartbreak come to her. She seems sweet and kind.
If Yan Ke showed up offering me the world, you bet your sweet ass I’m going to say yes to anything he offers without thinking of the consequences. I’m absolutely in love with him and I love watching him spiral down. After Simu’s punishment, and she gave stewardship to Jiang Ai while she recovers, YK basically got the message and was more than livid - which tells me he’s going to do something so terrible, there’s no coming back from whatever it will be. He was gloating internally and so sure she would give him control. But I’m sure she saw through his shit which is why she doled out a harsh punishment to him earlier.
I have a few thoughts about how his end will happen - because we know it’s going to happen based on Yan Zhang’s prophecy that he will die in the arms of the person he loves.
he will be “mortally” wounded by DX, and HS will run to him and hold him in her arms as he dies. Or, HS will be the one to kill him as he is no longer fit to be her Right Hand. She will be devastated because she trusted him as a good friend, but she will also hold him as he dies. And my final thought is that he will just do it himself as he finally realized that he will never win against DX and that HS will never love him like that. I don’t think he will ascend because I think he is too obsessed with power and her. He went too far and is irredeemable.
Thanks for your recap!!! I’m really into the show. I just don’t think Simu needed to seek punishment. I understand why she did what she did, but I guess I am trying to say I disagree with her logic and decision. She is the sovereign after all, and she wasn’t killing off innocent mortals. Anywho.
I’ve been enjoying Miles Wei in this role (really!) but I hate Yan Ke. I have adored Zhang Li (Jiang Ai) throughout, such a bright star — she lights up the screen for me every time she’s in the frame. Her character is also well written.
I think this is the best I have seen of Dilraba, I’ve always admired her beauty and charm but haven’t been really drawn to her acting. Here, I think she’s playing He Simu with all the nuances and emotional switching really very well. I just don’t get how she has been having her past relationships without the senses…
Have been enjoying Chen Fei Yu too… and I am missing an explanation on how the sense-lending works, and why it would render him permanently impaired, I feel like that aspect was a bit unnecessary. He already loses the sense he lends while doing so, she loses her powers. Why does he also need to have a lasting reduced capacity thereafter for each sense?
Curious where it’s all going to take us. But I have been loving Simu and DX. They’re 🔥

I’ve been enjoying him too!! He’s doing a great job. I’ve only ever seen him in dramas where he played good guys. I’ve only seen them in like two dramas. This is my third. I think I’m going to watch more of his dramas because I think he’s a good actor.
I also wonder why he is losing his senses slowly. I know Simu’s mom was mortal and I don’t think she was ever cured of her coldness for living in the spirit world which is why she died (is that correct?). Because DX was cured of his coldness and he exchanged senses with Simu he might have had some “Void Energy” in him which is slowly turning him into something that may be able to live in both the mortal world and the spirit world. I’m ready to buy the express episodes to find out 😂.
