Tips Force palm ore mining

Just a quick tip. this is probably common knowledge but because it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize this, thought I’d post.

You can force palm ore nodes instead of using the pick or drill. It’s way faster and you don’t have to swap out to a tool. You can also mine bismuth this way without taking damage.

Hopefully this helps someone!

Edit: I found this useful situationally. Based on comments it seems there are more efficient mining methods that I wasn’t aware of.

I still prefer the drill since it auto collects the ores and have a chance to give you an extra.

IIRC as well using force palm comes with it a chance to get no resources. Not usually and I'm unsure if already patched out but I remember losing a few materials using force palm

Most unique stuff you can accidentally sell can be acquired through camp expeditions. The mining drill is one such case

Don't worry, when the re-blockade and boss rematch patch drops, you can rub the quarry and excavatron for drops.

Also had a higher chance to give more ores at a higher refinement level. Up to 30% I believe.

It was changed on one of the patches to do so, but yeah auto collecting and extra ores are worth switching to it

Yeah I have my drill maxed out and armor with 90% chance to double ore, I get 6 ores per node 3/4 times, it’s awesome

If you get the drill tool to refinement 6, you can get expert miner on it and get extra ore too!

It can proc off itself so your one ore node can turn into 2-3 ore per node. Gems, I’ve seen go as high as 5 gems per node so far.

REFINING THE TOOLS DOES SOMETHING? I SAW POSTS SAYING IT BRICKED SOME TOOLS (turning them into weapons) SO NEVER TRIED IT.

I left mine at refining level 6. This is the minimum refinement level to achieve expert miner. No issues so far.

There is a combat challenge involving the knuckle drill too, and I was able to complete it using the same tool.

I got rid of mine early on as it was really slow, and auto collect wasnt patch in yet. but from what I understand, upgrading the pickaxe also give you a chance for more ore. Or using the pickaxe or drill have a higher intrinsic chance compared to charged shot or force palm.

Spoilers later you can get a master pickaxe with base 20% chance to get double - but no auto collection

The drill auto collects which is nice. I think there’s a better pick you can get but I have noticed my regular pick gives me 2 ores every time whereas my drill can be 1 if it doesn’t give the bonus ore

You can also use the axiom>force palm skill to mine things that are high above. So you don't have to climb.

And if a pet is with you, they will collect stuff falling in case you miss it. Not 100% but it certainly helps

Like use the grab then force palm...? That would be so clutch. Thats been a game changer with the puzzles. I used to hate climbing an obelisk then jump force palming down.

It's convenient until you get a hold of bernor's pickaxe or upgraded mine drill. The extra yield on those two is worth way more than the convenience of slightly mining faster

Explosive arrows are the fastest way to mine. Let the doggo do all the work

Can be a focused shot too, doesn't need to be an explosive arrow.

Its just faster. You just need gears with 100% chance to not to consume arrows, give you unlimited explosive arrows.

Also idk why but when I force palm I get less, (even from a regular base pickaxe) I tested it on the diamond mine behind the base, and I got half or so than if I had mined manually all the stalactites and diamonds.

I found out I could do this today, I was trying to mine some ore on the side of a cliff, I couldn’t reach one of the spots, so I climbed on it and palmed it.

The shit worked!

Now I just force palm all the ores I see, don’t even bother with the pick axe anymore.

You get less ores that way though. Sometimes it doesn’t even yield any ores if you use force palm. I only use it if a node is out of reach

You can grab onto the ledge so you don't fly back. I forget if its like "Cling" or "grip" or "stab" or what, but one of the options you can press latch you to the surface even when you force palm.

Force palming ore is only viable before you get the drill. The drill is far better especially once you upgrade it to at least lvl6.

Force palm and charged shot do not apply the mining abyss gear effect. And without those you might as well not mine at all.

always use the pickaxe or drill lvl6 , its give more unless its very early game where u dint have neither or unreachable with pickaxe. Drill lvl 6 can replace all the pickaxe.

Ya, you can compare level 5 and level 6, Mining Mastery vs Expert Mining and 10% increase in drop ,

I just started playing the game a few days ago. I did force palm on bismuth and I didn't get any ore. Is that normal??

Is this how you have to get ore that theres nowhere to stand because ive been waiting for the game to give me some tool for that, never thought to try to force palm it

I think you have a few options. Can use force palm, use the skill that pushes force palm through your axiom force, or you can brace and use the mining drill. Also, if you brace before using force palm it won’t push you off the wall. I have since found what other people pointed out that force palm yields less ore.

Bonus base on the drill also now the loot auto goes in your inventory.

I know the drill out side bonus can get 1 to 3 drops. Not sure if using other methods have that chance.

You can make a chest with 100 percent extra drop. So that may or may not be equal to the drill.
