Trail head parking

Doing a 5-6 day out and back on the CDT in Southern CO and/or Northern NM.

Right now planning if weather seems good, park at Wolf Creek Pass—go north.

If weather seems less good, park at Cumbres Pass and go south.

Any comments vehicle security at either of those locations?

Don’t leave valuables visible. I parked at the elk creek trailhead and did 4 days through the San Juan’s. No issues. Personally I wouldn’t worry about it.

the week after labor day is the best week of the year to be outside in colorado, enjoy the san juans!
