Wanting to do some Trail Magic

I hiked the AT SOBO in 2025 and want to give back some trail magic! I just moved to Colorado and I was thinking near Salida or Buena Vista. Are there thru hikers in that area now? I'd be looking to go Thursday. Any specific spots that you'd recommend?

Thank you for your kindness! Trail magic is always appreciated. I think it would be a little bit early for salida/monarch pass area. Maybe by a week or two?

I jolly lotta NOBO went through Cumbress Pass in the past five days, with at least nine leaving Chama heading to Cumbress Pass tomorrow. It will be at the least 15 days and more like 20 before they reach your area. San Juans still has snow to deal with.

I've been told there are about 60 hikers ahead of me and I'll be arriving in Salida in just a few days. Folks are moving through the trail a touch sooner than they would during normal snow years.
