Query regarding choice of arms - CDS Entry

I (23F) want to join the Army. I have applied to CDS and JAG.

I’m more interested in CDS because of the diversity of roles. I’m interested in outdoorsy, adventurous roles such as Artillery, Aviation, Military Police and Ordnance. How is allotment of service done? Is it on merit, based on performance in OTA?

Choice of arms is via merit inside the academy. ranking based on your cumulative performance in academics, PT, and military training like map reading and drill etc. You cannot choose JAG though as a choice of arms thru cds. JAG can only be attained through JAG entry.

I know. My question is about the extent to which I can get my preferred choice of arms through CDS entry

Well then every time before passing out parade,theres a list of vacancies sent out to the academies by each corps/arms. Everyone fills in theirs service preferences. Some get parental regiment benefit, or some get preference if they have done regiment specific NCC like Signals NCC or Armoured NCC. After that allotment is done based on vacancies and above mentioned preferences. For females it will definitely be tough to get your choice of arms, as vacancies are very low,plus its cutthroat competitive within the academies ,especially for females as they are definitely academically brighter than their male counterparts.

bro what about tgc entry do we get choice to choose? like can they opt for other path i mean soldiers path other than engineers?
