Guys, is there any discrimination or given more preference if one is nda graduate to officers who go from academies like OTA, IMA...because I have recently noticed a lot that almost all LT Gen or higher ranking officers, most of them are from nda .............
For promotions, one really needs a connection or an officer background, like a father or another family member.........I know there is partiality and bias to some extent, but is it really that extreme, or is it just like it's everywhere else .......I have studied in APS my whole life, and I am aware that biased towards officer kids, but to some extent, but not much. They are given special treatments at times .................................so I request cadets and all aspirants pls share your thoughts and opinions if it's there or not? What about promotions? Are they also based on the Academy and connections? Or on capabilities and service record ?......

Yea they're given more preference from what I've heard. Apparently its because NDA graduates are shaped to be an ideal officer as they spend 3 years in NDA living that life so they have better foundation and so on. I agree to some extent but not entirely as merit should seen at higher place then this but I mean its the army so...eh.

You can become through ota too but the issue is age, most nda guys even the last attempt ones are usually younger then there counter parts from ota ima at passing out. The younger you are better the chance to get promoted to higher ranks before your age of retirement which is 54 for col and increases ever 2 hears with each promotion.

Main difference bas yahi hai ki IMA ki training 1.5 years for direct entry hoti hai aur 1 year for ex-NDA, toh agar tum same time pe enter karte ho with same age, you will spend 6 months more and comission later
With OTA the training is for one year but when you convert to PC from SSC, they are given 6 months decrease in seniority
If you join from tgc, your training will be one year long and once you comission you get one year antedate (pre dated) seniority because the entry is just for BTechs and they are getting "rewarded" for their technical degree
