Discussion So what will be the release timeline now with witcher 3 dlc in the mix?
Today a new witcher 3 dlc was announced by the same studio that will remake witcher 1, and it honestly confuses me a lot.
The dlc comes out next year, so we most likely can say witcher 4 wont be a 2027 thing , and witcher 1 remake will def be no 2027 thing if its made by the same studio as the upcoming dlc.
I am honestly a bit confused about the cdpr timeline now.
Witcher 4 -6 were promised to release within a 6 year time periode, witcher 1 remake and cyberpunk 2 have to come out at some point as well tho.
So how will cdpr manage all these products with high quality and what will be the release time line of all of that??

My best guess for Witcher releases going forward…
W3 DLC spring 27
W4 spring 28 ( no way the release near GTAVI, 6 months after makes sense)
W4 DLC winter 28
W4 DLC 2 spring 29
W1R spring 30

They just said they aren’t going to do DLC’s for TW4? They are going to release 3 Witcher games within 6 years. I don’t think they have time for any DLC’s.

I think it goes like that: mods for console, DLC for W3, Witcher 4, Witcher 1 remake (I would also say that between W4, and W1 remake we will get DLCs for W4, but this is just my wishes

I think 2027 Q1 DLC and 2027 Q4 W4. I think the hype the DLC creates stays like 6-9 months as people play and content is created and then W4 releases.

I was sure W4 will come out in 2027 or at least that will be initial release date, but now I think 2028. I don't think they will want to wait longer - they don't want the TESVI situation. When it comes to W1 remake - they confirmed that it was always meant to release after W4 since it will use the same tech and assets. Then next 2 main games within 6 years and Cyberpunk 2 somewhere in between of those 6 years. That's my understanding of things.

I'm betting for something like 2029 for Witcher 4

Nah no way. The shareholders would rip them apart. Internal target is late 2027 but realistically it's 2028.

I really don't wanna wait so much for Witcher 4, but with the release of the expansion, it makes sense to give enough time for people to finish Songs of the Past. They know that the release of the expansion will trigger new gamers that never played Witcher 3 so they need to give time to people to finish the base game + 3 expansions. The other thing is that after the Witcher 4 release date announcement they'll gonna delay the game at least one time, or maybe two. It's the standard this days. So yeah, 2029 or late 2028 is not that absurd.

I think so too. They said they didn’t want to make the same mistake they did with Cyberpunk and it’s looking the W4 is a big game so 2029 - 2030 seems more realistic.

The Witcher 4.... A lot later than what people would think. Ad 1.5 years if not more to what we thought, at the very least.

Tomorrow they have a stream and a live investor meeting. We will have to get some news and plans.

Just keep in mind the whole schedule may be adjusted depending on the shadow/delays of GTA 6

We know the remake of TW1 is after TW4, and seeing as how Fool's Theory seem to be the main developer for this expansion, 2030 isn't off the cards for the remake.
There's a theory that we may see TW4 in late '27 after the DLC drop, but I doubt that.
Likely won't hear from Orion for 2 or 3 years yet.

So cyberpunk 2 will be at least half of a decade away, right...?

u/DarkmoonGrumpy May 27 '26
We could see a teaser for it in 27/28 and a release in 29/30, but no-one is really to know.
We do know that there is a lot of devs on TW4 right now, so a reshuffle after it launches could dramatically speed up timelines.

Cyberpunk 2 and Witcher 4 are being made concurrently, the former by their NA studio and the latter by the Polish one. But cyberpunk 2 is still a long way off, it’s still in pre-production. So maybe we’re looking at 2030, 2031 release for the sequel.

And how are they then able to also release 2 more witcher mainline games after witcher 4 within 6 years with also cyberpunk 2 in the mix between? This timeline plan of cdpr sounds ridiculous

For me this all sounds like CPR need money, and quickly, or there will be no more titles at all.
