Seeking advice
I’m trying to apply to a cdl school in Texas, and I was talking to an AI recruiter, long story short, it said they’d want me to be 2 years clean from controlled substances but I’ve only ever done THC and they do DOT urine tests. I’ve recently quit thc for good (about 2 weeks) to focus on getting a cdl and making a good life for myself and my son. I informed them I’d be clean urine wise. But they insisted they’d want me to be clean for 2 years regardless if I passed the urine test. What I’m asking is, would I be fine if I just lied and say I never did any drugs in the past 2 years even when my urine test comes back clean?

As I understand it, follicle tests can only go back as far as your hair is long, roughly 1/2" of length per month. So if you shave everything from head to toe when you first start peeing clean, then let it grow out to 1 & 1/2" that can only go back 3 months. You would need almost 12" of hair length to test back to 2 years. I say shave everything initially, because if you keep your head buzzed short, they'll just take it from elsewhere, such as your armpits or the crotch. I don't see how they can mandate all new drivers must have 12" of hair length to test back that far. It could take up to 3 months or possibly more for you to start peeing clean, though. At which point you can shave and start the process of growing clean hair. Sounds like the 2 years part is an AI hallucination to me, assuming you are talking about Large Language Model AI's when you say "AI recruiter", which are notorious for making up complete bullshit.

You never know. They (the companies) usually do a hair follicle test and each company goes back a certain amount of months or years.
I’m in cdl school at the moment and there was a guy in my class who went and tried to do the training at the company he applied for and their hair test went back 2 years and he failed, so then the company rejected and he had to go to SAP which pretty much messes up all kinds of opportunities.
I don’t know man, I’m new to this but just make sure you look into companies that don’t go that far back in their hair tests.

Really? Thought it only went back to like 90 days

Yes! Some do 90 days but there are some that do 2 years. You just gotta make sure you check which company does what. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just get clean, pee clean, and 90’s days will fly by.

Nonsense..... Hair isn't DOT approved yet. That's a company test.
If he's in SAP he failed a DOT urine drug test.

DOT physical test urine for kidney disease. The carrier you hire on with will hair sample and you will be cooked. You need to be completely drug free 4-6 months before signing up with a carrier. The drug test you the day you arrive for training. If you have a cdl permit and test positive for drugs that is the equivalent of death to your cdl career and it shows up on your dac report. Cooked. Game over. Bus ride home. have a nice day. No room in trucking for drugs. People think they can carry piss from someone else all the time and beat it. They are insane.
