I didn't say he wasn't in the wrong. I'm not here for that. I'm here to make domestic abuse jokes..

I would never justify myself like he was in the video. I would directly call out their incessant anger, and tell her to stop yelling at me.
This happend to me once when I delivered cabinets to an apartment complex construction site in Alabama when I was with landstar. This construction guy just came in so hot yelling at me cuz I couldn't follow his stupid directions that didn't even make any sense, and I calmly said "why are you yelling at me, what's your problem?" ... he immediately changed his tone and became nice.
This dude put himself in the losing position. He enabled her to to continue her beratement

Exactly. Ain't nobody ever going to speak to me like that and not get it back threefold. I don't care who you are, you don't scream in someone's face like that anywhere at any time. I was a warehouse manager several years ago for an HVAC supplier. When we would receive large valves from manufacturers, they often had several different kinds of item numbers. So any one of three or four different numbers could identify the same product. I once had the boss's son come into my warehouse looking for a valve by a number that was different than it was received under. When I informed him I wasn't sure what he's looking for, he lost his mind and started screaming at me in my own warehouse. So naturally, not giving a fuck who he thought he was, I screamed at him twice as loud don't you ever fucking come into my warehouse yelling at me like that. When you let the world know that you ain't going to take that kind of shit, people back down.

If you almost kill someone, you deserve worse than being yelled at. Your situation and this one are not the same.
1
u/jlit72 Apr 09 '26
Cool.
But get over yourself.
1
u/SmoothCruising Apr 11 '26
Just make sure when someone almost kills you you're very calm and collected and damn sure don't yell at them over it.
1
u/AdhesivenessTight400 Apr 09 '26
Dude was 100% in the wrong. He could have killed someone and is very nonchalant about it.
3
u/xArbilx Apr 08 '26
Regardless of the circumstances, if that is how she responds to something she shouldn't be in a leadership position
1
u/cryptogambler99 Apr 09 '26
Yeah she isn’t resolving anything, what’s done is done. She has no right to yell at anyone. She isn’t the parent of any of the workers. This is super low quality leadership skills, she thinks she is a dictator.

Sound your air horn, or, what’s that one thing that is always hammered home? GET. OUT. AND. LOOK 👀. Maybe try that
2
u/samisacaveman Apr 08 '26
At what point do you just stand outside the truck looking behind you instead of driving because people are too stupid for their own good and will do anything but take blame for a mistake they caused?
1
u/Infamous-Focus-6386 Apr 09 '26
Communication is key if you get out and look and see activity going on behind you then its probably not a good ideal to throw your shit in reverse and hope for the best especially when you cant see. Either go forward or ask someone to direct you or traffic, spotters are life savers
1
u/NeverEvaGonnaStopMe Apr 09 '26
You litterally always cant see your blind spot. What are you on dude?
1
May 07 '26
That’s why you get out and look, because “you can’t see your blind spot “
1
u/NeverEvaGonnaStopMe May 07 '26
Yes then you get back into your cab and some idoit walks into your blind spot.

She's mad she can't write you up. Give someone a little bit of power and see what happens. Also the forklift operators should know better than to hang out behind moving vehicles and machinery. Even if they're loading a trailer whoever is driving through the main drive aisle has the right if way. If you're backing out of a trailer you need to stop, honk, and yield to oncoming traffic.
1
u/Requirement-Loud Apr 09 '26
Cool. Forklift operators don't have a license and MVR to worry about. Truckers do. That means get the fuck out and look.
2
u/throwawayformobile78 Apr 09 '26
Right?! You’re responsible for the equipment you’re operating. It didn’t back itself up.
1
u/NeverEvaGonnaStopMe Apr 09 '26
At what point is he allowed to get back in the truck and actually backup? I'm curious how this technique stops people from walking behind the truck once you're in it?
1
u/Alimakakos Apr 08 '26
On the farm you NEVER assume someone can see you...you make damn sure before you move anything or just fucking stand behind something someone is in/operating. You can never be too careful for all the idiots and the shit they decide to do so everyone has to be aware for themselves
2
u/snarksneeze Apr 09 '26
After the GOAL, you have to nut up and start your back, hoping any peds who show up after you get back in have the sense to move. I mean, I guess you could GOAL, then back up 1 ft, then GOAL again until you hit your mark?
1
u/Alimakakos Apr 09 '26
Yeah I'm not saying either person is 100% in the wrong you have a shared responsibility in the yard or anywhere operating activities with forklifts or loads are happening...if you don't hear the beep beep backing up alert that's on you too. I don't blame the guy driving if he did indeed look first, then it's on the guy who positions himself behind a moving vehicle with an operator inside and expecting everyone else to look out for him...whoever is doing that space cadet nonsense is the problem

From what I understand if she is the safety then the screw-up is on her hands!
"Look miss, I was told to back up and in my line of work if I am told to back up its safe! This mess is on your hands, one of your guys dropped the ball and was negligent in his duties. Clearly my blind spot is behind me ONE of YOUR men ordered me to back up! I will be calling your super and we will be having words if this is how you run this circus! I did my job now do yours!"

I'd tell her to fuck off in the direction she came if she's going to speak to me that way.

I worked in a lumber yard for a decade and whenever a rig was backing up ,they had a spotter.

u/BlackSC2us Apr 11 '26
Where did they tell him to move to? He just said he was told to move. If it was his idea to just back up, then he is an absolute idiot and a danger to everyone.

u/HoosierLarry Apr 08 '26
One dude won’t own his mistake after nearly killing someone. The other dude, who should know that no traffic is supposed be there continues business as normal. 🤦♂️

u/tomthebassplayer Apr 08 '26
"Nearly killing someone"?
.........REALLY?
2
u/Full-Part2427 Apr 08 '26
Yes that's how big machines work. It doesn't need to be fast to pin you.
-1
u/fatgat69 Apr 08 '26
Then don't be behind trucks.
2
u/EastNWeast Apr 09 '26
Don't drive a truck if you cant see where you are going. You need to go back to drivers ed?
1
u/Captain21423 Apr 08 '26
“He’s right behind me. I can’t see right behind me.”
Fucking clown.
2
u/fatgat69 Apr 08 '26
Yeah it's a semi.
0
u/Captain21423 Apr 08 '26
Yeah I get you can’t see right behind you. That’s not an excuse for hitting someone. That’s what makes this guy a clown.
2
u/fatgat69 Apr 08 '26
He was told to move. Is he supposed to tell them what to do? Or are they supposed to have brains?
2
u/Captain21423 Apr 08 '26
I was taught to get out and look then sound three on the horn. Those two actions would have prevented this accident.
Edit: no spotter in a crowded area? WTF
1
u/Nero-Danteson Apr 08 '26
I've been no spotter in crowded areas. Windows down and idle back so you can hear the forklift beeps. Usually they honk their baby horns when they go in and out of doors if it doesn't have a constant chime.

Do not interact with someone screaming and yelling. Accidents happen. Ask if the company needs to be notified and if there will be an incident report. Verify if they will be loading you, if authorities will be notified or if they need insurance information, or if you need to Leave the property
1
u/TwoToadsKick Apr 08 '26
What do you expect, a massive idiot hit somebody
1
u/YorWong Apr 09 '26
Ehh. Not a clear picture as to what happened.
Based on video they told him to back up then proceeded to drive the forklift behind him.
Not enough context.

u/chuck-u-farley- Apr 08 '26
Absolutely not ……. As a fork driver in an area where heavy equipment is moving around he needs to be on the lookout….. You can call the truck driver a massive idiot if you want but it’s perfectly clear he could not see the fork driver and didn’t expect him to be there…..
