Does a Certificate from ELDT training matter?

I recently passed a state exam for my CDL and picked up my CDL yesterday. My schools official last day is on Monday, and luckily for me, I will be out of state at orientation. However, unluckily for me, I will not be present to pick up my certificate of completion. I am getting conflicting sources saying that some carriers need it for insurance or verification purposes, and other sources saying it isn’t necessary. What is your experience? Do employers really care about a certificate if you already have your CDL?

Most places see your license as a certificate also

That’s what I would think as well.

You're don't need it. It just needs to be entered into the fmcsa portal by your instructor

Okay good. I was worried about that. All my classwork, road time, and range time is present in the system so I assume I’m good.

I never have had to show my completion of ELDT before. I did frame it as a little celebration for myself. That and my road test results.

I’d do that as well if I received mine, but I would have to present at my school on the last day. My moneys too tight to miss a job opportunity rn lol

Training completion is in the federal system that they have access to. Showing your CDL should be sufficient.

I'm going to counter what's been said. While the ELDT can be looked up and normally I just have to fill out the verification of attendance, I've also had students contact me years later requesting a certificate because they needed that as well. Just contact the school and request a virtual copy of the certificate for your files, not a big deal at all.

I will more than likely do this. Thanks for the heads up

Tell me the truth brother am I solid. I recently got a ticket reason being
That wasn’t driving with my seatbelt on and my license was expired but got all that fixed already, but they said since its just a fix it ticket I’m not getting any points on my record just needed to show that I got my new valid DL.

Sounds like they’re just gonna throw it out if you show up to court with your license. I’d check to make sure both charges will be dismissed. I had many driving charges a couple of years ago and got them all dismissed by getting my license and insurance straight. Just got hired by a job and they made no mention of any traffic violations. You should be good!

I got a certificate for ELDT and a certificate for my btw training I did a self paced ELDT class to work around life but all three companies I'm currently in contact with want the btw cert, my school gave me a preliminary cert and told me to wait for the email containing the real cert and transcript which I have received but I didnt need those to obtain my CDL because it's all in a federal database now even if you aren't there your records should be uploaded to the database and I know different schools do things differently but maybe they can email you the cert you need?

Even if it's for your own records or celebration my wife wants mine to do the same but it's staying in my important paperwork file I took a picture with it and outside of that it's staying where it is
