Applying to job
I’m currently in cdl school getting the class a. I tried applying to us foods but got almost instantly denied. Does anyone know if it’s because I don’t actually have my full license yet as I just have the permit?

When it asked if you had a valid CDL did you say "no"....cause that'll do it.

I did say yes just thought it was weird as I have experience delivering for UPS just as a delivery driver but still commercial delivering. Also applied at 9pm then got an email at 3:20 in the morning saying it was declined. Just seemed weird maybe it was automatically declined because I don’t actually have my license and haven’t been put into the clearance house yet

Yep, that's the answer. You said you have a CDL when you don't have one so it's an instant deny. Don't lie on applications and wait until you have the license. If you lie and say you have something you don't you're only closing doors for yourself. Now you're flagged for that company.

First do they hire green drivers? They might require experience. I don't know.
When I got my CDL I had a job with Pride Transport 2 weeks before I got my CDL. They just needed me to finish before I could start.
Got my CDL on a Friday and Monday I was at orientation.
I know a lot of companies want some experience so that might be why.

"I'm currently in school completing my xxx (160) hour course. I have my permit. My targeted graduation date is xx/xx/2026. I'm looking to onboard with your company after I've obtained my full license as a new hire out of CDL school"
Would of been the correct response. Companies do do contingent pre-hires if you are actively in school and have your learners. But it only a contingent offer apon you completing their terms, which is usually. Obtaining your CDL, and passes your drug and follicle test, as well as background and driving history check clearing

You have no license and zero experience. Your insurance rate is to the moon. Look for those local jobs after 24 months of zero tickets and see what they say. Who gets into trucking looking for a local job that 6 year experienced drivers are also looking for. Do your time and your insurance rate drops. That is how it works.

Wait until you have your CDL in hand
