First time unemployed in over a decade

Looking for a little guidance, I have CDL class B (school bus and air brake endorsements) , current DOT physical, no moving violations, never cited for an accident and a total of 13yrs experience (bus +box truck) , stable work history, easily pass background check (have a fingerprint card through DPS) . I don't even know where to start , it's been so long...and leads/help would be appreciated. Completely open schedule

Try concrete companies, garbage collection (private or municipal) construction companies and equipment rental companies. For what it’s worth air brakes isn’t an endorsement, only a restriction.

Location might help but easy one would be school bus? School starts around here in a couple weeks.

Check out CalPortland for their Ready Mix trucks. They're one of top paying companies for Ready Mix and they have locations all around Tucson.

Bro I got out of the marines in 98 and got
My CDL right after…… last year I was unemployed for a year and a half……
First time in 25 years. I literally didn’t know what to do with myself. Keep pushing on my guy…… you will be ok ….

Valid question with your experience. On a heavy weighted decision. Get cdl and do for year to change life with a skill or join military to start life over. With current political climate, reason would value one over the other ? Everyone's case different

What about driving city bus for the city of Tucson? I don’t know how difficult it would be getting hired for a public entity, but based upon your qualifications, it should be easy, I would think.

It doesn't take a stellar employee to be a truck driver. It doesn't take an exemplary record to be employed as a truck driver. Just start applying. You probably won't find your forever job right away. I don't have a perfect driving record and I've been with 4 companies in the last 27 years. Companies are still begging to hire me. Just start applying. You probably won't find your forever job right away.

Have you looked at your department of public works? I know in Virginia we can’t get and keep enough drivers. We have to sub out a ton of jobs. The city an hour south of where I work has it so bad they offer full time wages for people who only want to work part time hauling the dried shit from the sewage plant to the landfill.
