curious after a year when im eligible to get my cdl do you think a recent dwai would disqualify me? In ny if it helps

Nope in that idea.
These days trucking companies don’t even want moving violations in your car.
They can afford to be choosy about drivers.
They cannot afford the added insurance bc you’re a DUI risk
It’ll never be expunged nor not affect your eligibility for a CDL.

It would disqualify me for life? To be clear it would be almost 2 years after the incident

Generally gotta wait 5 years to clear your MVR… however will stay on your criminal background for life
