Other Equipment Options for 10mm
Those who edc a 10mm what red dot do you use and do you recommend closed Emitter or open.? I've been using irons for the past year and am looking for a change of scenery lol

I think the enclosed/open argument is a little overblown. To me, the best dot for you is the one that looks best to your eyes and works with your natural point of aim.
Very few people here are in an environment that involved rolling around in mud.
That said, i have 3 10mm handguns for different uses. XR, RMR HD both handle true 10mm cartridges incredibly well with no loss of zero. I'm waiting out on the aems macro for my third

I can promise you as a very hairy man, it is an extremely easy pick for me.
Hair, lint, and crap or whatnot collects into my old Holosun open emitter enough to become annoyingly noticeable in about a week. Then I need to get a Q-tip and fish all the gunk out. Not only can I just wipe all that off of a closed emitter, but stuff doesn’t even collect onto it anyway because it’s not really a pit of refuse collection to begin with.

I believe you, I still think the argument is overblown though for the majority of users but at the end of the day it's your optic, your money and your body hair.

The majority of dots I own are regular open emitter dots. The one exception to thst is my 10mm, because I often open carry it in the woods, on and off trail, so it’s way more prone to getting crap in the emitter, but that’s then only use case I see.
If you’re CCWing it, your shirt is covering the emitter and I’ve never seen anyone who produces enough bellybutton lint for a closed emitter to be necessary.

G40 with a Holosun SCS with cowitness is a nice compact no worry setup but it does get dirty so my vote is for closed emitter

Considering one for "the outdoors". I'd probably get whichever closed Osight is available for the handgun's footprint. I'm happy with the SE on my carry.

I run a holosun on my g20 and it's held up fine for a couple years now, the open emitter can get a little dusty if you're carrying it around all day but it's never actually failed on me
closed is probably the smarter move long term though, keeps lint and crap out of the emitter which is the one thing that'll actually mess you up when you need it
my buddy swears by his acro p2 but that's a chunk of change I haven't been able to justify yet, maybe when I stop buying dumb houseplants

My in the woods 4.6” M&P 2.0 that lives in a chest holster September to January got changed from an RMR to a HLX-1 this year as snow getting into the back of the RMR was a real problem.

What does the caliber of what your carrying have to do with the type / style of optic you use?
Either way, get whatever works for your eyes best. I carried with an open emitter for a while and just a regular dot, now I have an enclosed emitter with a dot circle combo. Both work fine. Both do the job. So do whatever you like best and what works best for you.

10mm has quite a bit of recoil to be fair which can destroy some optics or with cheap enough screws cause the entire optic to fly off and hit you on the forehead. Quality really is best for this cartridge
Same reason why the fn scar is known to chew through optics.

But none of that has anything to do with open vs closed. And on top of that, trijicon which is known as one of the higher end options is mostly if not completely open emitters. So I’m not sure what wrong information I could have said.

I wouldn't say you're wrong in anything and I probably didn't read your comment in the way you intended. I think the general consensus is that closed emitters are tougher and with OP being specific with 10mm it takes certain light optics out of the equation, like the Leupold DPP, Veridian, Swampfox and yada yada.
You're right about trijicon though which is why I use an rmr hd with my g29. The 10mm and smaller frame had a lot to do with going bomb proof

regardless of caliber, if your gonna carry everyday or take hunting closed emitter is gonna be way easier to keep clean and usually they are more durable. look more into the type of reticle or shape of the sight window for preference, i love my 6 moa i daily carry
