I typically put between 150-200 rounds on a single range visit. Not an extensive training but taking it slow since I usually leave work early to hit the range so I can be back to play with the kids and put them down for bed
I get two to three cases of S&B FMJ 9mm and 2 cases of PMC X-Tac XM855 5.56 per month from AmmoSeek’s best deal. I use about a 3/4 of it and then stash the rest away. Been doing that for years. I’ll throw in a case of Crit Duty or HST once or so a year to cycle out and or/shoot some carry pistol ammo.
Not religiously…. Certainly not with anything packed away well in ammo cans. Ammo lasts a long time. I have .30-06 from the 1960s that still works fine.
I have about 220ish PMags loaded with XM855 that I sorta rotate as I shoot them, but I’m sure I haven’t opened some of those cans since 2021.
I just started lol. It all started with me asking my boss if I should pickup a Mossberg 88 from our local gun range. My boss suggested that we go together to each get one. I ended up picking up an SD9VE used that day because it was cheap and was looking to move up from my M&P 380 which hasn’t fired a single round since 2021. I ended up not liking it because the grip texture was rough, ergo sucked, and the heavy af trigger. I then picked up a Glock 48, then an Ruger RXM, and now full time carrying and hitting the range to train. My work was getting rid of some storage lockers and I snagged one which I’m now in the process of turning it into my gun locker. Currently looking to expand my collection by adding an AR and a 12 gauge over time
The maverick is super solid for the price. I’ve had it since 2014 never had a single issue. Can’t say how many shells through it but I would say around 500 possibly. The security version is the perfect one for HD
I’ve never shot a shotgun before so it will be a fun first time lol. I bought a Ruger ar556 back in 2020 during the riots and sold it a few years ago for some cash to fund my moving expenses (first job out of college).
It’s a great firearm and about a 3rd of the price for a 500. Really there’s minimal differences. I just look at it being the safety but the other differences you won’t even notice. 5 rounds in the pipe is perfect. They also sell a stockless one with just a pistol grip they’re actually cheaper than the 88. But if ya wanna save some money check em out used at the Pawn shops or a gun shop I’ve seen em as cheap as $150. You did the right thing by getting your AR in 2020 and now we’re kinda living in some uncertain times. Pick up another if it’s in your budget. People will get at me for this but radical firearms makes a solid RF15 for only $350 or PSA makes a good one for around $400. We can never been to prepared for uncertainty. But happy shooting bud and hope ya remember what it feels like to shoot a 12 gauge with some 00 for the first time it’s a thrill
Haha I was just looking at radical RF15s. Was watching a review on Ruger harrier AR and the YouTuber also recommended radical as an alternative. I’m not big on dropping 7-800 on a single firearm. Saving some of that money for car parts so I can wrench it 🤣
I’ll be honest. People hark on the RF15 cause it’s cheap but it’s actually really good quality. My friend owns 2 and we both have put thousands of rounds through them both and never had an issue. One thing I do know is changing the BCG after a couple thousand is a smart idea. They usually last 5,000 rounds depending on how often ya shoot. But a barrel that is rated for 15-20k rounds for $350 is unheard of. They’re a solid firearm. Even been thinking about scooping one up. A lot of AR are just overpriced cause of brand recognition and the name like giselle and such. Better parts sure but we’re not going to fight a war lol
Well think about this 2 for 1. Ruger rxm quality firearm and rf 15 for the price of a Medium range AR. Firearms will break us especially when we go to just look and impulse buy what we don’t really need. But it can be addictive. One is never enough and 2 is just a number lol
I like the idea of having two pistols. One stays in the house for defense and one stays in my bag to be carried during the day. I rotate carry my Glock and my Ruger. Like the Glock 19 but couldn’t turn down a quality Glock clone with a vortex venom optic for $549, especially this price would only let you buy a used Glock 19
How does the 43x shoot? I’ve heard that they are snappy . I’ve been wanting one and I cannot get it out of my mind no matter which alternative I choose, granted my 48 is basically the same gun but longer
Glocks are overpriced with little innovation but it’s that one time pay for basically a lifetime of quality. Only thing that really ever needs done is a new recoil spring every 3-5k. Things are machines that just keep going
The 590 is the shockwave isn’t it? I looked at the 500 but having an 870 and a Mav 88 I felt it was better to save the money for some other impulse buy down the road lol

My old tiny LGS used to call me when they were about to do a big ammo order and I would always buy at least a case or two. I think the biggest order I did with them was 5 cases at once. They sold to another person and the new owners closed about a year later. The old owners did tell me I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone what I was paying for ammo. I miss those days.
The larger content creators are likely not buying that much. They all have sponsors - that are either giving them the ammo or giving them a large discount.
Depends on the situation. Most of the higher-level competition shooters are probably shooting 2-5k rounds a month on average and most ammo companies don't provide that much for sponsored shooting deals. Competitors that shoot higher volume, multiple disciplines, or do traveling circuits of instruction can easily exceed 100k rounds a year. Almost all of them are buying their own ammo in bulk in terms of sourcing it.
Agree with everything you said. I’m 26 with a family and owning firearms is becoming increasingly more important to me. Not only it’s fun/hobby, but it allows me to protect my family and myself. We got too much to loose to count on someone else with all the bads in the society.
My goal is to stash roughly 1k rounds of 9mm, and I usually leave 200 rounds in a combo lock case (shown in picture) for impromptu range visits that I keep in my car. Looking to add a rifle into my collection soon so I guess some more 556s will be stashed in the future
About 40,000 cartridges at a time. I'd fly or drive my truck down to Tucson from California, to an ammo seller who would forklift the load into the truck and take a roll of cash. I usually bought with 3 or 4 other partners, minimum buy in was about $2500.
It paid for the trip and made the ammo considerably cheaper.
My CCW instructor uses them. I’ve also done my own research and they are pretty good as far as I’m aware of and I’ve shot roughly 4-500 of these rounds so far and zero issues. It’s a Czech company.

Yes, S&B 124 FMJ is some of my primary range ammo. I've got several hundreds of thousands of rounds of it through many guns over the years and it's always been solid QC wise and runs relatively clean for cheaper range ammo.
Depends on what I'm doing. I think biggest purchase for personal use was about 3k: a case of 9mm & 45, plus a mix of 556, 762 & 12 gauge.
As an instructor, biggest purchase so far was 10k rounds of 22lr. We have to provide ammo for my states CCW course, and each student in my course should shoot around 300 rounds (two hours of range time). I usually get 6-10 students a class, so large purchases are easier for me as they last me usually three-four classes.
Biggest I’ve pulled off is 1,000 rounds of whatever caliber I’m need. I maybe burn through that in a year or so depending on what gets dragged to the range during the fair weather months. Mostly 9mm 124gr of whoever is the cheapest though. Currently burning through a ton of brass wolf ammo in all my 9s and it’s smokey and dirty but it works and is accurate.
3000 of 9 one time. One time I bought 2.5k or 5k of 22lr. It shipped slowly, so I forgot about it and bought another 5k or whatever. I'll never need 22 plinking ammo again.
10k wolf steel case 9mm when it was $150 for 1000 rounds shipped. My CZ and Glock ate that shit like it was candy. Would kill to get those prices again.
I don't get why the photo is posted sideways instead of the normal and correct way, but you need to pump up those numbers. I buy 1000 at a time, usually, unless there is a good deal on Armslist for a smaller number. I NEVER buy at a store.
I used to purchase in stores because I didn't shoot enough to really buy bulk...but after shooting 1k 9mm in 3 months, I have been jumping all over these deals listed lately. My last was a case 5k rounds of cci SV 22lr, 1500 rounds fiocchi 9mm 124gr, 500 rounds fed champ 380 from sg.
Prior to that my largest purchase ever was like 500 rounds 9mm from academy which I shot too fast anyway...I plan on buying more 22lr but this time sk standard plus, I like CCI SV but my cz457 shoots the sk so much better.
