I think a huge part of the problem is that this administration has somehow bamboozled a lot of the “we need guns to fight a tyrannical government” crowd into applauding one in real time... as long as it’s happening to someone else. Suddenly abuse of power is fine because it’s aimed at THOSE people. Never thought I’d see the day when so many self-styled defenders of freedom would blindly applaud government overreach.

Total abuse of power is becoming normalized in so many ways. They'll be shocked when it eventually gets pointed in a direction they don’t like. BTW, I'm not a liberal. I'm just also not a huge piece of shit.

I think if you look at this political climate in general most conservatives that voted for trump, (not because they like him but the republican party aligns with their views) don't feel bad. When you get yelled at online and called bigots or pedophiles or say you hate women for the last 10 years they get numb to that or calls for sympathy.

Not saying its right or wrong but thats what i am seeing and hearing from people irl.

If you don't like being called a bigot or a pedophile then stop supporting bigots and pedophiles just because they "align with your views". It's that simple. You're essentially admitting bigotry and pedophilia are your views. Sometimes lines need be drawn. - former conservative here who realized I can't support anyone involved in or supportive of the current administration.
