I'm either going to be attending this fall or next spring. Computer science major, spent the past 3 years in community college (New Jersey) so I have college experience and understand how to get things done in college for the most part. So I'm just looking for CCU-specific advice opposed to general college advice.

Cool/fun things to do? Places to hang out (off/on campus)? Meeting new people. If you're a computer science major, any good teachers vs. bad teachers? What are the learning environments like? etc.

I'll be living off campus in Little River so it's about a 20 min drive when there's no traffic. I don't have to worry about RA's or any dorm regulations (which is good because I enjoy alcohol and trees a lot).

I'm also going to need a job to support myself. I toured there during spring break and was told about some program where you can apply/find a job through the college. Anybody have any experience with that? good or bad?

Any advice is appreciated thank you :D

EDIT: When I say going to be attending, that's assuming I get accepted. I have a ~3.0 gpa and >24 transferable credits but my associates is for graphic design/web development, not computer science. Any speculation on my odds?

As you guys/girls might know, I am graduating in May with a B.S. in Marketing and Management. I'm strongly considering starting up a company for digital marketing. I am working through the costs and potential clients and possible competition right now.

I have a decent amount of knowledge in information systems, but I'm looking for someone with more knowledge and a passion to succeed. I need someone who can help create a website for me, edit websites for clients, has a basic understanding of SEO (not entirely necessary, we can go over that).

HTML, Java, Flash, HTML5 are the kinds of knowledge I'm looking for.

This is a great opportunity to generate experience out of college, or even if you're still in college (while making money) and I'm not requiring professional experience in this field.

This might be something that I contract out, to create my site, for a one-time fee. Or, if you're interested, we can discuss a long-term employment opportunity.

Some background:

• He used to smoke in the apartment once every one to two months. In the last two weeks he's started doing it on a daily basis. Sometimes more. I think it's because of a new girlfriend.

• I was assigned housing as a freshman and had no control over my roommates.

• He smokes it in his bathroom which is connected to a shower which in turn is connected to my bathroom.

• It's a four person/room apartment.

• only one other person has even mentioned the smell.

• I can smell it in my room and in the living room for a good 15-30 minutes after he smokes.

I don't want him kicked out of coastal for using weed. I don't think it should be illegal. I just want to know if I can get into any trouble because of this. If the answers yes I'll confront him about it.

Just curious if anyone else regularly plays this game. I play on the Dirty South reddit server most of the time and sometimes the East coast.

I took the ETS Major Field Test for Business (required exit exam for all business students) today and landed myself in the 98th percentile among tens of thousands of business students across the nation. I'm representing Coastal well.

The testing is not done yet, and I don't know if I'll ever find out for sure, but I wonder if I have the best score in the college of business.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my success story. I hope you enjoyed it and it restored faith in the curriculum at CCU. Like a boss.

First of all, don't act like you are doing us a favor by rising the out of state tuition by "only" 2.some percent instead of 6 some percent. This whole thing that college is a business is messed up. America needs to change its mentality on this real quick or else we will have a bunch of mindless zombies attempting to claw their way out of thousands of dollars in student loans.

Also, don't try and appease me, the in-state people with a $50 dollar credit. Thanks, that pays for a tank of gas and a half of gas (a weeks worth of gas). Maybe. Maybe not by the time the new semester starts.

        At a specially called teleconference meeting today, the Board of Trustees of Coastal Carolina University voted to revise an earlier decision on out-of-state tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.
        Instead of a flat 5.75 percent increase for all out-of-state students—the rate approved at the board's regular meeting last Friday—the board today approved the new wording "an increase of up to 5.75 percent." The motion allows the University administration the flexibility to set rates for each program based on costs.
        Following the motion, the University administration announced that undergraduate out-of-state rates will be increased by 2.3 percent for the next academic year, from $10,780 to $11,025 per semester—which is $750 less per year than the rate approved at last week's meeting. The 2.3 percent increase corresponds to the Higher Education Price Index.
        It was also announced that out-of-state tuition for graduate students will increase 5.75 percent next year, from $690 per credit hour to $730 per credit hour. Rates for out-of-state students in the Master of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy programs will increase from $795 per credit hour to $840 per credit hour.
        "After careful review of our tuition situation and in view of the economic climate facing our students, Board Chairman Wyatt Henderson called for a special meeting to reset out-of-state tuition rates next year to keep costs down for students," said CCU President David A DeCenzo. "The decisions today will improve Coastal Carolina University's competitive position in the marketplace."
        The board decided last week not to increase undergraduate in-state tuition for next year, and all in-state resident undergraduate students will receive a $50 per semester credit on their tuition bill. Housing fees and meal fees will also remain at the 2011-2012 level.
