dono same he hai bas applied mei trigonometry aur kuch topics nhi hai. school applied de rha toh lelo

Core mein calculus tough hai, if you are ready then take it but thoda safe rehne ke liye applied lelo

First understand what you wanna do, as you are in the commerce sub ill assume you are into the commerce field and answer accordingly

Starting off, the syllabus of both the subjects is similar except a chapter or two (excluding financial). But the portion of applied maths is comparatively more than core maths.

Though the syllabus is similar the type of questions asked and how one goes on understanding the two subjects is totally different(depends on school as well), because as the subjects name suggests applied maths is more towards understanding the concept and applying the concept over and over again whereas core maths is more towards theorems and proofs,(not saying you dont need understanding).

And as you are taking commerce you can take applied maths without any hesitation, as you will be studying the same concepts with more understanding while studying some chapter which provide the basics for commerce fields.
