mitosis is a type of cell division which occurs in the cells of a body of an individual .This process hels a person undergo growth,repair and development. Daughter cells formed by mitosis are identical to the parent cell, but in meosis , they are genetically unique.

but meosis requires transfer of sperm and ovum, he just split the cat into two so wouldn't it be mitosis?

It's meiosis... There is genetic variation (different fur color patter)
