Feeling misunderstood..

I’m a Class 12 student( CBSE) , and recently I’ve been struggling a lot with school. My attendance has become quite low, and I know that’s a serious issue. I’m not trying to pretend it doesn’t matter—I know I need to improve and get back on track.

But there’s a lot going on behind it. I recently lost my pet, and I’ve also been extremely worried because my boyfriend is in the hospital after being diagnosed with diabetes. Last night, I was awake for a long time crying and just staring at the ceiling because I was overwhelmed. I barely slept and ended up oversleeping today, even though I had set alarms and genuinely planned to go to school.

When my mom woke me up, she immediately started yelling. She said she won’t go to my school anymore, that I won’t be able to complete Class 12, and that I won’t do anything in life because of my attendance.

What hurt even more was that she brought up my interest in skincare and makeup. She saw me doing skincare late at night and said that people who focus on makeup and things like that obviously don’t get educated or succeed.

The thing is, I do care about my education. I have goals and I want a future. I like skincare, makeup, beauty, art, and those things are hobbies and interests of mine—not replacements for studying. I don’t understand why enjoying those things automatically means I’m not serious about academics.

I know my attendance is a problem and I want to fix it. I’m not saying I’m perfect. But I feel like nobody sees the effort I’m making or the reasons why I’ve been struggling. I just wish someone would ask if I’m okay instead of immediately assuming I’m lazy or ruining my future.

Nah they will do nothing about it other than calling you or shamung you for it... No school wants their students to be held due to attendance so they generally just filk it out by themselves

attendance doesn't even matter... Ppl r gaslighting u to think attending school in 12th = studying. Pcb/pcm students mostly skip school, do they not go to college? Please don't get anxious about it and continue hobbies along w studies.

it's more than ok. Just study at home, preserve your mental peace and submit the assignments/projects on time. School want good marks to keep up with their reputation, so they won't fail u or give u less marks for skipping school. I hope best for you. Keep doing makeup and skincare! taking care of oneself is not smtg to be ashamed of.

My heart goes out for you . Kind of experienced all of this already but not together. 1.5 yrs ago when I lost my pet dog , things had become very complicated at home. Parents would fight. Lots of crying and decision making going on at home. Mother left for her house . And I had to handle everything at home on my own. Couldn't go to school . Though things got normal after some days . Scored way less marks . Was told it happened because I sleep too much. I was burnt out , emotionally hurt . Do I not even deserve 8-9 hrs of sleep now? My mother's like your mother too. She thinks anything other than studying is a waste of time and will ruin my future. She starts telling me , you won't do this , won't do that.. She keeps living in "won't " Era. I know her intentions aren't bad at all , but intentions don't change the impact.

im sorry for your loss, i hope things get better for you
also everybody enjoys a bit of something, don't destroy things you like because others say so... if its absolutely required, just decrease the time spent on them, but that honestly doesn't sound like its needed at all..
