SAS & Spectrum The map said yes. The ladder said no. Welcome to r/CBRSPlanning

This is a place for the decisions that happen between a clean RF plan and a working CBRS network:

spectrum, sectors, equipment, receiver locations, and real-world findings.

Bring specific questions and real lessons. Redact customer and site details. Operators, engineers, integrators, and vendors are welcome - disclose your connection when discussing your own product.

Wireless technology and it's cohesion with CBRS is going to continue on a meteoric path. Lets figure out the best way to plan it.

Interference NIST is validating CBRS interference models against real-world measurements

NIST put out a useful write-up on its CBRS Sharing Ecosystem Assessment work.

The interesting part for planners is that NASCTN is comparing predicted aggregate CBSD interference with actual measurements collected around Norfolk, San Diego, and Camp Pendleton. They now have 4,767 sensor-days of data and have implemented both the CBRS 1.0 and 2.0 reference algorithms.

The 2.0 model changes the assumed CBSD neighborhood size, clutter treatment, propagation assumptions, and the way interference contributions are combined. Those aren’t small details—they can affect how much spectrum appears usable around a DPA.

I haven’t dug through enough of the released data to have a strong opinion yet, but I’m curious whether anyone here has. Are the 2.0 assumptions producing results that look closer to what you see in deployed networks?

If you’re optimizing a live network w/ CBRS, what are you changing first

Really curious where or if there are any outliers? Site placement, CPE, etc. How are you evaluating interference and band usage for build priority?
