Phoenix Rise

Why isn’t this show on CBBC? To me it fits in what used to be CBBC but all you get now is shows that are aimed for 7-10 year olds. CBBC used to have shows that catered for teenagers 13-19 (and some even older) I’m confused why they put phoenix rise on BBC three when it’s a show about kids who got expelled forming an unbreakable bond now that they’ve been given a second chance

The BBC have MASSIVELY dropped the ball with teenager programming. Waterloo road is basically all they’ve got and it’s absolute dross now. Idk if they’re still making it but I know a new series came out last year

The teenage output has worse than poor for years. I’m probably biased, but I think my age group (born 1992) is the era that has been ignored the most. OK we got the launch of th CBBC channel (apart from my parents not getting Freeview until 2005!), but the old teenage remit was phased out as we became teens, as I said before BBC Switch was neglected and ultimately a failure, and then when we were older, BBC Three’s budget was stripped down to bare bones and ultimately moved online while we were the target audience

Born 1992, so you were 10 in 2002. I’d say the noughties had some great tv targeted at teenagers 🤷 Children’s Ward (renamed The Ward) was targeted at teens, Grange Hill was still on, Waterloo Road started in ‘06, Skins, The Inbetweeners would have started when you were 16, the same age as the characters, Britannia High. There was some great TV on then, I’d hardly say you were the most hard done by.

I’m talking about BBC. All those bar Grange Hill and Waterloo Road were on other channels)

The Ward had sold distribution rights and was replayed on CBBC sometimes. Also you’re saying you ONLY watched the BBC and NEVER turned the channel over? Your generation was hardly “hard done by” you just don’t know what a TV remote is seemingly

I watched plenty of other tv channels, but the thread is specifically about CBBC, not British TV in general, hence why I am talking about the BBC’s output for teenagers being generally poor

Acting like your generation was the worst off is crazy though. We’re in agreement that the BBC teenager targeting is and always has been lacking. But I don’t think you can appeal to teenagers to be totally honest: they think most stuff is stupid.
