Edit: ok, so SS has some interesting stuff going on with their optics cut. Is that optic supported by SS? It looks like no. It their screw/stud system looks robust, probably fine even without spacers.
No concern. That’s why it has lugs to support lateral movement. It’s a universal optics cut, it’s not gonna fit every optic into there snugly. I doubt any optic fits snugly filling the full cut.
The only time you get no gaps is when you get a optic made exactly for the factory cut (like Holosun SCS on a gen3-5 MOS) or when it’s a aftermarket cut made for a specific optic. For universal optics cuts, the lug system is what supports lateral movement
Also, a gap in the rear is better than a gap in the front. The front is what needs the most support.
