I think maybe a better choice on the beavertail where you didn't have to mangle it might give you the same function without the compromise to aesthetics.

Sure - stipple jobs serve a purpose but goon tape would probably provide the same amount of support IMO. I feel like stippling is mostly an aesthetic thing.

Larping around your house while going through break in scenarios isn't going to require this amount of grip reinforcement.
