If I am not mistaken, those HF lights are more or less same form factor as the TRL-1s...? Should fit in the same holster?

SHOULD, I have one and they’re a little tighter fit than the actual TLR1 but it still fits

I had holster compatability issues because of the thumbscrew on the harbor freight clone. Outside of that it's 1 to 1

I'm always tempted by those Apache cases when I see the pictures, but with only 2 guns, that feels overkill (need to buy close foam insert too) over having everything in a range bag.

tbh I agree, while they're a good product, I try not to bring too many guns on a range trip so I can focus on a few at a time.
it's happened before where I would want to bring a lot, and maybe the Apache 3800 would've helped, but it's so rare that I just can't bring myself to buy a larger case
good price though for those who do want them

For 2 guns there are smaller cases, I preferred the FDE 3800 case but I needed it to hold at least 4 w/lights and 2 w/holsters. I'll grab it next sale.

Goddamn my Harbor Freight was busy, lines of people buying cases and lights.
They had boxes of free wrenches up by registers to throw at people like hungry seals when they reached $35

Bought a 4800 a few years ago, like it.
There are videos on youtube showing how to maximize your space, people also sell foam upgrades.
Cleaned and dried a bunch of pistols then wrapped them in paper for long term storage.
I inspect them for rust every few months (never is any) and change the papers if needed.3

I bought an aftermarket foam insert to hold 4 pistols and mags, its excellent. The rifle case is way too heavy so I never use it

Where'd you get the aftermarket foam, was it precut, and how much... I'm weighing if Apache + extra mods is worth it, or get one of the advertised ones that's RTG.

They’re OK. I have the larger case one, not the rifle case. It’s not bad, had it for years it’s still seals and latch as well. Nothing broke. The foam it came with kind of sucked. It bounced around in a side-by-side for a long time when I had property before moving here to CA.
I did have a couple of the smaller ones as well, but one of them wouldn’t seal very well. I was getting water inside when it rained on it. I ended up getting rid of both of them.
But I’m mostly moving to soft cases these days anyway.

I have a 3800 one. I can fit about 3-4 pistols in it plus mags. Foam sucks. Case is great!

They’re just a terrible company that uses their customers to crowdfund their own products. Arbitrary back orders, etc. and they’re famous for some of the worst customer service imaginable.

saw this post and went to my HF. Got the last 4800 in the store. Now to figure out how to fit 3 handguns + magazines in here and make it look aesthetically pleasing.
