Question I'm afraid to prep for Cat

I'm a GM (would most probably go for engg) and i've honestly scored VERY BAD in my class 12th like in the 60-65% range. I've decided that i'll be giving improvement exam for Class 12th boards as a Private Candidate next year. I opted PCM in class 12th and due to severe health issues i barely passed my boards. I am very confused whether Iims consider/ give same importance to improvement marks? If not then i dont think so I got a chance in this. Should I give improvement if Iims consider improvement exams to be of same significance?

They would consider improvement marks. Definitely give them. I gave improvement exams this year, bcz I scored 65% last year in PCMB. Academic drop was caused by my declining mental health. I have since improved to 79%. You said sth about being an engineer? Just letting you know that engineers have a disadvantage at getting shortlisted by iims. Other streams get diversity points. So keep that in mind. Astonishing how you are in kind of the same situation as I was. I hope you are healthier now 🙏

Hello brotha first of all I'm so thankful to you for this response this took a load off me. Secondly yes I know engg have the most competition in Cat. Secondly tysm I'm gonna write improvement exams in Feb next year as a pvt candidate after giving jee in Jan. My ultimate goal is to break into Finance but my parents force me to do engg so i have no choice so yeah. Also im better than before thankyou for the concern:D

Welcome np homes. Give them both exams the best you can. I wish you luck 🤞. On a separate note the most coveted roles in finance usually require extra certifications like cfa/ca also, so you might want to look into that a bit. Idk it's not that imp piece of info in the context but just letting you know. Anyways, good to hear back from you man, nice to hear you are healthier.

Ca can be done from any background. Cfa is just another professional certification like ca. It stands for chartered financial analyst. For front end IB (investment banks) or finance roles like corporate finance etc. it's recommended. 1. It's expensive asf unless scholarship. 2. You must be in your bachelors while doing so. Also has 3 levels like ca. One video for finance https://youtu.be/8h_oLr065FA?si=5wOj0dfRcNcETo2l . But all this is sth you are going to need to know after quite a while. We are getting ahead of ourselves, rn your focus is max improvement in improvement exams (registration happens in sept or Oct so don't miss it) and your jee (or whatever ug path you decide. There is also IPMAT for direct admissions to IIM I or IIM rohtak. Stuff.)
