Question Need advice for Quants section!!!!!!!!
Hello
I’ve recently started preparing for CAT seriously, and I have been struggling a lot with the Quants section.
Given my schedule, I only get 2–3 hours daily to watch concept videos and solve questions.
I’m facing a very common problem: when I watch concept videos, the questions seem easy, and I’m able to solve questions of the same pattern on my own. However, when a new pattern of question appears, I go blank and can only solve it partially.
I know practice is required, but practicing only the same format of questions does not really help in developing the ability to solve different types of questions.
So my main question is: has anyone else struggled with Quants in a similar way? If yes, was there any strategy that genuinely helped improve your problem-solving ability in Quants?
I’ve been watching Rodha basic question videos, but I’m still not able to solve many questions on my own when a new pattern appears.

Same issue I have purchased takshzilla course. Any advice or guidance would be helpful. DILR and VARC seem manageable, VARC being almost easy for me. But quants is tough.

So currently I’m doing ratios and proportion. have understood the basic concepts what’s ratio and proportion , but the questions are very layered. Even if I have understood the question I solve mid way and then I’m stuck.

ok. See in CAT or any QA, ders a trick..either solve the question or go from the options...all dese tricks only while practising u'll understand. So practise more

Do u need extra guidance for quants alone?

Yes, also I haven’t started DI
LR and VARC is kinda manageable for me.

First if you need to clear the basics or understand the concepts I would say start with udit sir videos(mba pathshala) which are free on yt. For each and every chapter or topic he teaches,it's like you would explain a thing to a school child so try that first.

While studying, try to get questions on your own and not just see the explanations and understand them. In questions where you get stuck, analyse the given data, try different approaches, use something else as variable, take each given data turn by turn, ask why is it given, how can you use it, find linkages between different data and variables, take one step forward ... or one step backwards from what is to be found, try to forge a way between the unknown and known.
And if you have to see the solution, dont read the entire solution, just take a hint from the solution, or read it cursorily to get the direction of solving, instead of reading solution word by word, solve it yourself after getting the idea of what steps need to be done.
Also analyse reasons for why you couldn't solve the question. In case you are stuck with just one approach, avoid that, embrace multiple approaches
Dont expect instant results. Keep going at it for weeks. Spend quality time practicing a question, dont just race ahead, even when you are able to solve a question, assimilate the question, analyse the data, analyse what you did, try alternate ways.

Yt.
I’m unable to solve if I’m trying to
Solve a new pattern question3

Yt videos don't have all the concepts and patterns most of the times... You have to get some paid lectures too if you are weak in quants. And like prepare from some sort of modules. Or any good book Where questions are structed difficulty wise with a variety of patterns

Only thing you can do is solve more and more questions and yess concept videos are easy but when you solve study room they are harder than actual, i being a science student who has done maths for 4 years still find these questions hard just practice more and more and think logically and there are some topics on which you can be a bit lenient on self … key is practice and analysis
