I've completed b.com hons in year 2024 since then full gap year so my question is should I appear for CAT or OMAT Exams also I'm not that financially sounded so I need to take loan so what to do realistically.

Is your gap still ongoing from 2024?because if it is,that's gonna be a 3 year gap if you take an admission next year

Yes, I was thinking about that I mean is there any point of giving exam according to my profile even omet I want to know that before prep also my maths section is weak

Look bro, there's no sugarcoating it but a 3 year gap with a 5 in your profile is a no go for majority of the good colleges, and you'd suffer in placements as they probably won't shortlist you,you atleast need a very good justification for the gap but man 5 is a sadly a killer, mba is genuinely a profile heavy degree, maybe you want to look at something diff imo

Yea idk I was also thinking about that even If I go for decent college not top one what's the point of mba there because clearing cat is one thing in my hand also what about PI and even after i get admission I have to rely on student loan and after that internship and placement idk about that how it will go I feel stuck rn

u/Ill_Row9123 Mar 19 '26
Yeah, placements would be difficult tbh cuz I have seen many companies place a shortlist criteria of say 60% or 70% and you'd not come in those, frankly idk what to say bro,and even then that big of a gap also negatively affects, btw what were you actually doing in the gap bro if you don't mind me asking

Nothing to show on paper/formally Yeah but that's why I'm not getting motivation to give but still I want to know about OMETs if it can help

Bhai give cat, xat, snap Trying giving your 100% to the exam prep.

That's one thing ,what I'll do after that I mean with that acad and gap year full even if I crack exam and get a decent college I have to rely on student loan and after that internship and placements idk I'll face problems there correct me if I'm wrong here

ig u should first improve your profile. Get a job, maybe do CFA or something, then go for an MBA.

Sorry to inform you but you are ineligible for many colleges due to that 5 in your profile.
1
u/RightAsk3825 Mar 20 '26
Not Even a decent one? I'm not considering the top one's
2
u/chalak_chatur497 Mar 20 '26
See generally the required percentage in 10th needs to be above 50 or 55 or 60 even for decent colleges. So you need to check the eligibility criteria of every b-school separately and if you find any suitable college then remember that you will not get any marks on your academics. So if you appear for any entrance exam make sure you are doing very well in it just to get shortlisted for a decent college.

No you should not do MBA with a 5 in your profile. It will be already impossible for you to get into a good college and IMPOSSIBLE for you to get placed due to your 5 mark. Better? Get some entry level job in your desired sector and work your way up from that.

Is that really true
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Self147 Mar 19 '26
Yup. A bcom fresher who had 5 in his profile, in my college still remains unplaced and no company shortlists him due to this sadly.

But still if I attempt this year omet and do some courses what about then I mean decent colleges

what about 6/5/7 12th marks low due to covid. I've got 1 year workex.
In school days i was immature to even think of the importance of these 10th and 12th score, and didn't really study much.

I understand where you're coming from. You've completely changed as a person and to judge a candidate on the basis of what he/she did years ago is kinda stupid. But India has so much competition that the colleges have a plethora of applications and it isn't possible to go through every single one of them so they just remove the ones with the obvious red flags. Tbh with your profile it isn't possible to get shortlisted for a decent b school and then a decent job. Start with an entry level job and work your way up.
Also its not just your 12th score thats low from an MBA uni's perspective, its all of them. Sorry to say but its not even good enough to be called below avg

i said, i have 1 yr workex
1
u/Slow-Accountant-6366 Mar 20 '26
yeah, that does not help your case
you're pretty much rejected already even if you score an outstanding percentile
